Is this what people really want?

I keep reading over and over people stating that the majority want these changes in a Halo game. But is that really true? I think the numbers say otherwise. Halo 3 was the most played xbox live game in 2008 and 2009. Yet, Halo Reach was fourth in 2011 behind MW3, Black Ops, and MW2. Halo 3 has also sold ~2.6 million more copies than Halo Reach. Before you mention pre-orders for Halo 4, Halo Reach also initially sold ~500,000 copies in the first week. These facts all point to one problem that I and a lot people have voiced; these gameplay features are more gimmicks that do not lead to the longevity of the game. They don’t improve the gameplay and in the end negatively impact it.

I think many people here have never played Halo CE, Halo 2, or Halo 3. All this new stuff is what one would expect in a cod game.

The reason people liked those games was because that was when Halo was not about gimmicks.

I really really really want whats in Halo 4.

I’ve played all the Halo games and yet I’m really really looking forward to whats gonna be in Halo 4 because it makes one individual so they can then strategize and build a team of individuals with their own talents that make the Ultimate KA-POW!

I would agree OP, but all you get on these forums is “the game has to evolve or people will stop playing.”

I think you can grow the franchise without completly changing the fundamentals of the game.

Oh well. See you in Classic?

Halo 4 is doing much better than Reach did. I have confidence.

I already mentioned pre-orders. Halo Reach outsold Halo 3 in the initial weeks and months, but it had no longer term sales. People got tired of it very quickly, which didn’t seem to happen with the previous Halo titles.

You’ve been quite the busy bee, among all the posts on the forum today, you are the one person Ive seen bash the new specialization system the hardest…

I want Halo 4, not Halo 2.3

Showing statistics based on how one game (reach) was not the most played game on Xbox Live does not speak for the direction that Halo 4 is headed. Let’s wait to see the reaction of H4 before we start deciding if this is what people want.

Well I can’t speak for everyone, but I want everything that is in Halo 4 so far!!

My opinion is that both the sales and player base show that people in the long run did not want the changes put in Halo Reach. I believe Halo 4 is just further expanding on these changes and in the long run is hurting itself.

I want Halo 4, not Sci-fi Shooter That Takes Everything From the Biggest and Most Popular Recent Games: But it has Halo on the Box 4

Wait? The reaction is here and now. It’s on MLG. It’s on Bnet. It’s on NeoGaf. It’s on Waypoint.

With a little reading, what people think of this stuff becomes quite clear.

yeah cause halo ce-3 had any real competiton during their lifespan right?

Halo 4 is not Reach. Many mistakes like slow moving speed have been fixed. Halo 4 is already doing better. Also change is inevitable. 343 just decided that time is now. Results are seen when the game is released.

Well… The message given by this forum is pretty mixed. I still agree that reacting after games release is too late.

Halo 3 definitely had competition: CoD 4, WaW, and MW2.

And Halo 3 was the better game because it a simple shooter without all the silly stuff games like CoD have.

i have played all halos and i want this because it looks like it could take us in a good direction and its not like a cod game

Don’t worry they’ll most likely give Halo 3 a anniversary edition after 2, but so far I like everything I’ve seen in Halo 4, so I really don’t want to go back to Halo 3.

Plus the community will most likely ruin 4 in less than a year with cheating, stealing, modding, spamming, farming, AFK, and just generally jerkish shenanigans.
