Is this unrealistic?

Even though absolutely nobody in the competitive community likes sprint, (I personally don’t like it either), there are some more casual players who do enjoy it.

I think 343 should have done a social playlist with “spartan abilities” and a competitive playlist with just regular movement. Also, the competitive playlist would not have things such as the automatic callouts that the spartans do and the indicators for power weapons.

However, is this unrealistic? The maps for the social playlist would have a different design from the ones in the competitive playlist, obviously. Since this is double the work, would this be too much to ask? I think 343 should have approached this game first thinking of a more simplistic, competitive playlist, and once they solidified that idea, they could have added these “spartan abilities” to a different social playlist.

I appreciate any feedback, this is just something to think about.

I disagree. Competitive playlists shouldn’t be Halo 2 over and over again. It needs to evolve like the rest of Halo. Whether or not it is evolving in the right direction is the question.

Several months ago I suggested the same thing. Its only unrealistic because the demand is not there, I guess… We never had a good chance to test it out.

Dividing the community isn’t a good idea. Map design would suffer for both sides if there were two different ways to play Halo 5 multiplayer.

What would be the point of having two completely different games in MP? This all seems to boil down to “competitive players” not wanting the abilities anywhere near them. Seriously, the new abilities are not bad for competitivity. They’re just new. Why constrain everything new to a place where the dirty casuals play, and keep the place that 343 is trying to evolve exactly the same? The CGI trailer said next-gen arena gameplay. If they didn’t add anything, then there wouldn’t be anything next-gen about it.

Sorry, the way I phrased things might have been less than ideal. I have nothing against casual players, and I don’t consider myself a super competitive player. I just feel like the way halo 5 mp is now, so many players just look at it and say “this sucks, it’s not halo, etc.”. There needs to be a balance, so yeah maybe two completely different games wouldn’t be a solution. I’ve just been trying to think about a way to make the whole community happy, because in the end, that should be the goal.

Sorry if I sounded hostile, but TBH, with a community like this, 343 is never going to please everyone. Really, the beta is their attempt to get as much positivity from the rabid try hards as possible whilst still bringing new things in. And even then people won’t be happy.
Personally, I just choose not to listen to the haters. Some people have legitimate opinions, such as yourself, but anyone who says something like “OMG CALL OF DESTINY ADVANCED HALO WARFARE LOLOLOLOLOL HALO IZ DED!!11!!1!!!2” isn’t really worth listening to.

Fair enough. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.

I’m not sure that you aren’t misrepresenting those who are voicing their concerns. I must say I haven’t seen more than a handful of such posts among a sea of hundreds of threads expressing concerns about Halo 5.

I also don’t like how ‘343 can’t please everyone’ suggests that maybe the community is split down the middle or maybe 343 listened to the community but a minority went unheard. I appreciate that you unashamedly defend 343 at every turn but surely you can see that apart from a few people like you on the forums the community shares a common view on most of these issues.

There’s a lot more of the bad stuff on other sites, especially YouTube. Just as much positivity, though, happily. This site tends to be more restrained (Most of the time. Did you see the posts the day before the beta reveal when we had about 10s of unexplained leaks? Crazy…), but it doesn’t represent the entire community. A lot of people might like or dislike what they’ve seen, but not say anything about it. Don’t take a small minority with loud voices as everyone’s opinion.
Fair enough, people might not like what they see. But I do. And frankly, I find it rude that you would degrade me like that.

Unless you want to make two entirely different sets of maps, sprint can’t be in one playlist and out of another.
