Not sure if this is obvious for anyone, but when Quicktime Events were discussed, these posts by Louis Wu and Frankie described them. (They’re not actually button-pressing mumbo-jumbo):http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=37501505&postcount=13242
But these pictures from The Magic Behind Halo 4 (screen caps by xJumPeR_JumPzZ) seem to be exactly what he is describing.

Those are first-person cutscenes. Just like the ones in Halo Reach.
I don’t see how the first pic is a quick time event. I think it’s just filmed at an angle for the trailer, aka prepped. The last 2 are quick time though.
I don’t want that Elite to throw me down the shaft
Where does it say you don’t have to press any buttons? It says in Frankie’s post that “Also, if you don’t smash that Elite he tosses you down the shaft” so you obviously have to press something to be able to do it.
> Those are first-person cutscenes. Just like the ones in Halo Reach.
Well, Frankie says “Also, if you don’t smash that Elite he tosses you down the shaft.”
> I don’t see how the first pic is a quick time event. I think it’s just filmed at an angle for the trailer, aka prepped. The last 2 are quick time though.
I thought it was probably the beginning of the cut-scene/event, considering it was an elevator shaft.

I believe 343 said that there will be a few points in the game where you will be faced with quick time events. I don’t know about you but that cutscene would be 20x cooler if it was a quick time. Just saying.
I am neutral on the quick-time argument. If done right it can really make cutscenes better, but on the other hand it can over do them.
Honestly, if the response buttons are consistent with the player controls (i.e. A to jump, LS to crouch, B to melee, RT to shoot, LT to throw grenade), with a few changes when unarmed or otherwise (i.e. LT to melee with left hand, RT to melee with right hand, LT + RT to open door), and the button prompts don’t show up on the screen (seeing them makes it feel too scripted. I like anticipating enemy attacks), it wouldn’t necessarily be a standard QTE and I wouldn’t mind at all.
Of course, if it involves mashing a button, then yeah, I’d be pretty furious.

So some of them will be like a button mash thing? I didn’t know Frankie said that. I’m sure some people will just let themselves be tossed down for -Yoink- and giggles.

Then punch that dinosaur in the face, and show him that the Demon is back!!!

It’s probably not button-mashing, likely just
sees Elite
Presses B/RB to melee
Elite is punched

Oh you don’t say?

A risky idea, but it would be cool if some quick time events got more difficult as you change the campaign difficulty. Like button mashing on Legendary xD.
I wonder who these will fit with co-op. Ex: teammate fails the button quick time, but you pass. I guess that just means he will be stuck in that animation, while the other person gets to continue xD.

Dude, your quoting!! xDD
But yeah, that seems delicious. 3 people stuck in an animation while one guy runs through the mission…

What you mean lol?
It could be a quicktime event…

How about this:
On Heroic, you’d have to react like a Spartan. Very little response time.
On Legendary, instead of having only 1 second to respond, the ambush animation varies, so you have to respond differently (melee, jump, crouch).

I’m Mactashiv and I approve this awesome idea
Ah -Yoink-.
When people were crying foul of QTEs at E3, I saw no button prompts. But clearly what Frankie says means timed player input.
