Is this plot still valid?

Remember during Halo 4 when the Chief encountered the Librarian and she explained how the Chief was the culmination of thousands of years of planning? Remember also that the she unlocked the Genesong within him which made him immune to the composer? Did you get the feeling that this act was going to lead to something big like the Chief maybe becoming a Forerunner?

And do you remember any mention of it in Halo 5?

Yeah me neither :frowning:

My question is - Does anyone think that this will still play a major role in future Halo games (Maybe Halo 6) or is Brian Reeds version just going to forget about it?

I don’t think Chief was ever in line to ‘become a Forerunner’ but wherever that plot was going, it got chucked out with the bath water.

I hope not. I kind of hope it plays a part in how they will eventually end Chiefs story. But Halo 5 current story does feel like all previous plots have just been chucked or finished in some other media.

I don’t think it was alluding to Chief becoming an actual Forerunner. But I do agree that that particular plot point was not at all addressed in Halo 5.

Well maybe not become Forerunner, but maybe live up to the name Reclaimer and reclaim a bit of what humanity use to be.

Given their track record, I don’t think any plotline is still valid. For all we know Cortana and the UNSC are all buddy buddy by the beginning of Halo 6 as explained in a terribly drawn comic.

I think his Genesong might be what’s necessary for him to stop the created by shutting down the Domain or something like that. I’m not too familiar with the Forerunner sciences and story save for some crash course lore videos, so idk if this is even possible.

It played a minor role in Halo 5, it’s the reason that Chief was able to receive the message from Cortana in the first place. Other than that, not much.

As for Brian Reed, we almost certainly don’t have to worry about him anymore. Whether 343 forces him off the writing team, or he willingly quits (After all, he deleted his Twitter account, showing he clearly received a lot of criticism AND recognizes his mistakes), we’ll have someone new for Halo 6, hopefully someone with previous experience.

They made no mention of it in Halo 5, either whether it’s valid or not, so they may go back to it later on. After all, 343i plan to make Halo games for the next 30 years, so there’s no reason for it to be addressed almost immediately.

People are so quick to jump to assumptions. There’s going to be another game, man - if you really ever payed attention to the story of Halo 1-3, you’d know everything 343 have done is building upon that and up to something greater.

There are so many threads. The Librarian, the Janus Key, the Iso-Didact’s genesong and the Ur-Didact, the Created, the Spirit of Fire, the Flood… They’re all leading into something unforgettable. None of them have been closed off - just put in stasis until they’re needed.

You all underestimate 343 so much…

They had so many opportunities to use the genesong, the Didact, and even the Librarian in Halo 5.

No; the lead writer dropped it all in favor of creating something new out of nowhere.
