Okay, here’s the deal. I want to max out Wheelman by playing the "Land Grab" mission in Spartan Ops, Episode 1. But I can stand the ammount of lag in Spartan Ops matchmaking.
So I had another idea. What if I went into a private Spartan Ops game (Play Chapters) with an unmanned guest. I’d drive the 'Hog, and put the guest on the turret. <mark>I’d be using both controllers myself, one to drive the Warthog, the other to control the turret (with my unmanned guest on it).</mark> Then I’d get the commendation easy, and a new Armor Skin.
The question is; Is this allowed?
343i says that all players in the game have to be active. Thing is, both “players” will be active, I’ll just be controlling them both myself; switching between controllers as I play.
I’d rather not risk getting in trouble by doing this. Can someone clarify if this is okay or not?
Just get a friend to run the turret for you… Simple and legal.
I think as long as it is not in Matchmaking, it’s fine.
Just don’t go into matchmaking and do this.

Of course not. The whole reason I don’t want to replay the mission in matchmaking is because of lag. That’s why I though of this potential method.
Thing is, “Custom” Spartan Ops isn’t the same as Custom Firefight in Halo:Reach; you earn credits and can advance commendations for playing outside of matchmaking, so I’m wondering if trying this could result in a ban.
It’s kinda pointless but no I really doubt you’d get in trouble for doing anything in customs. You can sit their and kill your nonmoving guest and shout profanities in a War Games custom game if you really wanted to. The only thing I would suggest is avoid modding. Modding is just about the only thing that you can’t do in customs.

What you don’t seem to get is that Spartan Ops is DIFFERENT than custom War Games. Can you advance Commendations in Custom War Games? No. Can you do it in “Custom” Spartan Ops? Yes.
At any rate, I found another way; I convinced my mom to play a game with me. In the end, I had to jump in a Wraith after blowing up 2 Warthogs to finish the level, but I still got 122 wheelmans.
BTW, driving a Warthog while trying to teach your mom how to shoot moving targets? = not fun.

Those count as kills, not as wheelmans.

NO, I get it. I understand that it gives you commendations. Nobody is at fault for that aside from 343. They allowed this to be in customs so YES it is fair game. If you happen to get banned from it I promise you I will quit playing Halo 4 forever. Just PM me on here if you get banned and I will take my copy of Halo 4 to Gamestop and sell it. They give you the option to play customs so you can play how you’d like. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re not going to get banned. It would still make more sense for you to play online though and just hope people drive you around as you will earn tons of more XP and probably have much more fun.
You won’t get banned. I did it a month ago, drive to a spot, shoot rockets, back up if a wraith shoots at you, rinse and repeat.

I had a friend over almost a month ago and he jumped in spartan ops with me. He’s not really that good at fps games, so I made him hop on the gauss hog gun and I drove him around and he shot everything in land grab. We played it twice and I noticed the commendations I was getting for it (about 122 wheelman medals per run).
After he left, I did what you were asking about and loaded up a guest profile and finished off the wheelman commendations.
I dont see any big deal about it. It’s 1 set of commendations and honestly, they can’t tell if you are using 2 controllers yourself or actually playing with a guest. I have never been xp banned so.
