Hey guys!
I know Halo 5 is almost upon us, and I hate to be the annoying guy complaining, but I have to know if anyone has noticed the same thing as me. If you look closely at the motion capture of covenant enemies in Halo 5, you can see that at certain times (quite rarely) it becomes choppy in contrast to it’s usual smoothness which is supposed to blend in well with the game’s 60fps. I haven’t noticed it in any multiplayer footage, but you can often see it in campaign footage. Below I’ll post the link to the “Swords of Sanghelios” campaign gameplay capture. It doesn’t really have any campaign spoilers, but don’t watch it if you don’t want to.

if you skip to 1:17 in the video, (yeah, 117, I know, creepy) you’ll see Locke take down an elite’s shields, and the elite will jump back, and shake his arms, all choppy-like. If you watch the video in 30fps, it’ll all look normal, but if you watch it in 60fps, you should notice a striking difference between the average enemy’s motion capture, and this elite jumping back. It may seem like I’m nitpicking here, but watch any campaign footage and you’ll tend to see this, usually under the same circumstances, after an enemy is shot and flinches. The 30fps and 60fps difference leads me to believe that this has something to do with Halo 5’s new 60fps, although I can’t say I’ve noticed this through any of the Halo MCC campaigns which were all 60fps. Other than that, Halo 5 is lookin’ good, and I’m confident that if these mo-cap hiccups make their way into the final game on Tuesday, they’ll be fixed in an update.

I’m blaming this on youtube. But I’m gonna keep an eye out when I play the actual game. Not like it’s a huge deal. You know what is a huge deal? 60fps and 1080p dynamic resolution on the Xbox One. That’s a huge deal. I can forgo a jitter or two here and there.
Agreed. Youtube can sometimes ruin videos like that.

Agreed, this is the second game? to achieve 1080p 60fps flawlessly (The first was Forza 5)

“flawlessly” … kinda. It’s not a solid 1080p. Most of the time it will be 1080p. But when things get crazy hectic, it’ll drop to like 900, then jump back up.
They did this because it’s less noticeable than what they did with the MCC and what many games do where the frame rate takes the hit, not the resolution. So it’ll be a solid 1080p, but the frame rate will start at 60fps and when things get hectic, it’ll drop to 40 or even 30 or less. That’s jarring.
Dynamic resolution is the way to go. You don’t notice the resolution drift up and down as much as you do the number of frames per second changing drastically. So the frame rate should be a VERY solid 60fps.
Chief had twitchy fingers in the beginning of argent moon. So maybe it might be something to do with the mocap dots?

Actually, 900p is being generous. The lowest it drops too is around 1152x810, as stated by Digital Foundry.
