Is there something up with these boards?

How come I can’t see anyone’s avatars or my little emblem by my name at the top of the screen (next to the dropdown arrow, which isn’t working either). Is there a glitch or something going on? Anyone else getting this?

I know it isn’t Halo 4, per se, but the avatars really helped me know who’s saying what in discussions.

Yeah, I think everyone is having this issue.

I don’t know what’s up with these forums…

Although I’ve learned to outsmart it, the glitch that annoys me most is how EVERY topic says it has a new post when 99% of them don’t…

Hell a few days ago I couldn’t even get on the forums lol

phew, ok I am not alone. I thought I accidentally my internet because I changed some java options for minecraft n.n’

Yeah same here. It would just freeze up and say could not load page. I’m just glad I can get on at this point.

Yeah me too I thought my internet was going crazy or something lol

im having the same problem… i thought nothing of it though so long as i know who posted what im fine

I’m pretty sure ever since E3 waypoint has had a population overflow, in trying to prevent server issues I wouldn’t be surprised if 343 has turned off avatars, its common practice for most large forums during high activity periods.

The avatars were taken off so the site runs better for the moment. They’ll be back up soon.

I call it the pre-game jitters, there was enough people on the Halo 4 Forum page after E3 to fill a ridiculous number of polka dot buses.

At some point (recently I think) the forums have been split from the main halo.xbox.com site and are now hosted ‘in the cloud’ - you can also get to them at https://waypointforums.cloudapp.net but the experience is the same.

This may have been done in anticipation of the load from E3, or in response to it - timeline is a bit fuzzy. Anyone know?

The rest of the site still lives at https://halo.xbox.com - issues with this site (like Search and Comments not working) may have different causes to performance problems with Forums. However I think the sites must share resources such as avatars/ranks etc so talking between the sites may be part of the problem.

Waypoint doesn’t need the cloud to be honest, it ran just fine without it, it is a lot worse now with it.
