Is there hope for MCC support beyond Season 10?

A little while ago 343 announced that support for MCC would continue in 2021 with a new Season every 2 months up to Season 10. That means Season 10 will launch in (likely late) November, the same month as Halo Infinite. In regards to the future of MCC after that point, 343 said “we’ll see”. Do you think any kind of support will continue after Infinite launches?

I actually think it’s possible. Firstly, the MCC team is pretty small, especially in comparison to the Infinite team. With the insane amount of revenue that Infinite is almost guaranteed to produce and continue producing, it would not be unreasonable for 343 maintain the same level of support for MCC funded by just a small portion of Infinite’s revenue. And secondly, if all else fails, it’s worth remembering that MCC will soon be receiving a new store system. This store will allow 343 to offer a more varied quantity of cosmetic content under more dynamic circumstances. Essentially, they won’t be tied down to the Season system as their sole means of delivering content. I believe it possible that Season 10 may indeed be the final Season BUT this new store could continue to be updated with new content every month or so with other, non cosmetic content trickling in at a slower pace.

What do you think will happen?

Odds are by then of next year MCC will have run its course IMO. Not many games hold a suitable population that long. Sure there will probably be a small population still playing but probably not enough to warrant much support out side of maybe some playlist updates.

Let’s hope so.

  • If they don’t rotate seasonal challenges, lot of players who didn’t get a chance to play them, will luck out. - Suggestions/ideas for future seasons will becoming a lost dream. Especially if it has some good ideas.I just don’t want rotational game modes and “new” weekly challenges.

I highly doubt they’ll continue. The game is going to be 7 years old at the time of Infinite’s launch. Infinite will most likely be their main focus. Only thing I can think of is they implement some MCC features over to Infinite. But as for new Seasons, I don’t think so.

The truth is the population has already been that small for years.

All the updates and pc releases since 2017 for MCC is basically just a PR move. likely the goal in rebuilding goodwill among the existing fanbase ahead of infinite’s release.

I do appreciate it as I only play MCC when I want to play halo as I have no interest in infinite, but the game was mostly abandoned not long after launch due to how disastrous it was. Population never really recovered in 2015.

I really do hope for there to be more seasons past season 10, if we have to wait until then to see a Map DLC for Halo 2 Anniversary where they can take their time to remaster all of the Halo 2 Classic maps for Halo 2 Anniversary. Halo 2 Classic and Halo 2 Anniversary is lacking content and needs new things/maps.

I feel like adding more seasons past season 10 will make sure that add what everybody wants for their favorite Halo games and other features like fixing Coop online play for some Halo games. I think its a really good idea to add more seasons as doing so can add more content to MCC and a very good change to get a Map DLC for Halo 2 Anniversary.
