Is there ever nighttime on Trevelyan?

So Shield World 006 aka Trevelyan is a Forerunner Dyson sphere surrounding an artificial star, right? And nighttime on Earth is a result of the planet rotating on its own axis. However, no matter how Trevelyan rotates (if at all), the interior surface is still facing the artificial sun, therefore there can be no night. I’ve been skimming the novels for references to it getting dark out and found nothing, only references to characters being inside for days and weeks. Do the Forerunner climate controls somehow make artificial darkness? Do the planets trapped inside the sphere when it entered real space make some sort of eclipse to simulate night? Or is it simply Always Sunny in Trevelyan?

I think they could simulate night on another similar installation, can’t remember which.

Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia… I mean Trevelyan.

Technically no. Because Shield World 006 is a Dyson Sphere, there is daylight constantly. It does not rotate around the star to provide night/day. (Based on what I learned in astronomy and physics lol)

True that there is no rotation to face away from the star, but since this is Forerunners we’re talking about it wouldn’t be at all unusual for there to be some kind of machine between the surface and the center which could selectively block/redirect the light to simulate a day/night cycle. I don’t recall any mention of night there, but given Forerunner tech we’ve seen I’d hazard a guess that there is a setup for it.

No is the short answer. No is also the long answer.

I know in Ringworld there is a ring with the same diameter as a Dyson Sphere and around its sun there is a smaller ring with slots in it that would block it at regular intervals. I wonder if the Forerunners had some sort of equivalent.

That’s very true. I wouldn’t put it passed them. But I’m just going off of what I’ve read haha

It have been mentioned that Halsey could see midnight dark sky when she looked to the side.
Dont know if that implifies if there are night or not.

I can give you over 40,000 reasons why that sun isn’t real. And probably a few for why it can make itself look like a moon on one side whilst slowly rotating, if it was intended to. Although, that would be interesting seeing as how it never sets … it would just eclipse into a moon. Hhhmmmm?
