Thinking about it, I feel a big part of why people can’t tell the difference between body types has to do with how the armor doesn’t reposition. You can actually see behind some pieces with the slimmer body types. I know some people aren’t happy with the body types in the game, and I think part of that might be the armor positioning. When I choose a more feminine/slender body type, I want it to be at least somewhat noticeable. And it is, at the waist, but for the most part in game people can’t tell. And I don’t think adding more body types would fix that if armor didn’t at least somewhat adjust. What are people’s thoughts?
I agree that the armor should change much like in Reach. Though, maybe not as extreme (it looked kinda warped sometimes) and should have some more minor changes to the body types. They’ve already released the male half of Reach’s armor I don’t see why they can’t make the female half work too.
Armor should change shape, the bodytype options don’t have enough significance in the game right now; your choice hardly matters if the differences aren’t distinct enough so that they can be identified during gameplay.
It’s a lot of work to retool the meshes and the attachment fits, honestly. Frankly, it isn’t worth the cost. What they did instead, slimming the undersuits or shaping them differently, is far more sensible to me.
I’d agree… but this studio has done it twice now and to much more of a degree than anyone is asking right now. Plus, this time around they had far more time and money on their hands so I don’t think time or cost really excuses leaving out core features that have been in the past three games this time.
Jesus dude you’re still whining about this?
Let it go man.
I asking about the armor specifically. I don’t see the issue. And please don’t call me man/dude.
Its for equality I believe. Its a safe decision really, they dont want a buzzfeed article about how they idealize the human body.
I’d argue that the unattainable male physique we have now is already idealizing the human body. Which is fine, that’s part of the fantasy being better, cooler, stronger, and more attractive than you can be in the real world is a big part of why people escape into video games and create/customize their characters so adamantly. Also, so far I’ve only seen news sites critique the lack of customization the same way we are and there was never an issue before.
So as a 6’3 transwoman I sincerely appreciate bodytype two, because while after two and a half years of HRT, my bust and hips have really filled out, I’m pretty large and that’ll never change. I’m glad we don’t have the binary 0 and 1 choices, I use bodytype 2 to reflect myself. But even if I didn’t have that choice, I’d still think that the way they’re handling armor is smart.
They don’t have to alter any meshes - and I remember for years people complained about hitboxes being different in Reach when they very much were not and I’d rather we never revisit those arguments again.
Decisions like individual voice and bodytype like this include people like me and I get very tired of seeing this topic continue to come up and having to see 343i shut it down because of the way it goes every time.
Alas, someone who was actually targeted by this patch. I do agree with your statement about the inclusion of more than 0 and 1, however maybe they did it flawed, personally i have trouble descerning the male form from the neutral form. I do remember one thing however, the majority of the complaints are about the lack of visible armor differences. In MCC Reach you can choose a female spartan but can keep heavy armor or light if you choose. I think that adding that small change would make a world of difference.
It doesn’t really go that way every time. There’s been a few trolls in a few threads and every thread on here will have to deal with eventually. Glad your happy with body type one nobodies trying to take that away. This thread was just about having armor fit a little better to it even if it’s just sleight adjustments.
I made the first thread on the new site about this issue and I really tried to keep it civilized, it wasnt too bad. But it spawned a much worse thread.
It fits fine is the thing. Be weird if the UNSC tailored mass produced armor like this when it’s the undersuits that need to be tailored and the plating mounted on top though.
I- I mean, that’s… They really just labeled the body types as armor types nothing really changed there besides degendering it and leaving it up to the player.
EDIT: Case and point I don’t get to have a truck sized backside in “Heavy”. Sadly. Since it’s just the former “Male” mesh.
That’s how it goes on the internet. Doesn’t mean we should quit trying to have the civilized conversation.
Point is you got to choose there. Here the choice has been taken away.
Well only for the most part. We still get to choose our voice and I guess our waist size. Spartans are kinda lucky, I wish I could swap out my waist size on the go.
Lol, it’d be nice.
Was referring to Mr. joker society profile pic man, not you lol. My B
