My first game of Spartan Ops was an absolute joy to play. I jumped into the Warthog and sped around the LandGrab map with another player and laid waste to the Ai. I didn’t worry about scoring I just kept us alive and all four players worked as a team and went in together. All randoms, nobody talked, but we played as team. It was fun.
That was day one.
Now…, well now it’s back to the “Reach Race” to get the kills and beat the other players to the end of the map. No team effort, all asshattery and general -Yoink- bag tactics are now becoming rampant. I ran into one talker and he nearly broke down over the mic that he had found another person with a mic who wasn’t running him over.
Betrayals and vehicle sabotage and a host of other horrible behaviors, that will undoubtably turn Spartan Ops into very unpleasant experience are starting to become the norm instead of the community embracing real reason and spirit behind a fire team.
All I can say is that I hope 343 turns up the Ai to Legendary and ramps them up, It’s the only thing I can think of that force players to rely on each other where the Ai is so damn hard to beat that it takes all four players to make it through working together.
