Before you could do it in bungie.net but scenes now everything is in waypoint I’m not sure if you can. Can anyone help me with this?
I can remember changing it within the game. In the settings area…
Menu> Player> Service Tag
For nameplates, no sorry OP. The last time that nameplates could be changed was back in 2011. If you had one set it would be locked in and if you didn’t set one then you would no longer be able to. The ability was never transferred from Bungie to 343 and was removed from Bungie’s website when they updated for Destiny.
I would recommend adding this as a suggestion for site development on here as well as on Xbox.com where you can sort of force the hand of 343 to apply fixes. You can also alternatively make suggestions the next time you call 1-800-4MY-XBOX for any reason, though they don’t have a suggestion section you may find your way to them at some point with an issue and you can make a suggestion there. Those on staff are required to make note of all suggestion on record them for their consideration, which may not be guaranteed either but it is worth a try. I myself lie the idea of being able to change it and it seems a bit silly to remove features from a game that came standard, such as the classified section of halo waypoint which really needs to be fixed, maybe they can b applied together? It would be nice to be able to unlock and apply them on the app from here on out as well as the site.

Unfortunately, it isn’t really possible or feasible now. People aren’t going to buy Reach specifically because they can have nameplates (if they would be added back), so every cent the developer spends on trying to get them back is a loss of money. Besides, it’s a 7 year old product - no real reason to try and provide more customer service for it. It’d be like contacting 2K games and asking them to update the MLB2K11 servers. No matter how good the game is, it ain’t gonna happen.
The answer is No, don’t know why 343 didn’t gain control over Bungie’s nameplates, surely Microsoft could have forced Bungie to hand them over.

You would be surprised what a clever person can do, besides if they are willing to do it for old gen wouldn’t they be will to do it for next gen? Microsoft may be swayed to improving their backwards compatibility to include disks from the old gen as along side it’s download versions if there are enough requests or if the competitors happen to provide the same service. Alot of sales can be made by improving current functionality, not to mention the popularity of the older Halo games over the current ones. There are alot of complaints on here and bungie.net(Yeah…still) about the differences between the games such as those related to the spartan abilities and such. Many private server have made quite a killing with older titles with a few “new” services such as those for Halo 2, after seeing the popularity they refused to make any more PC versions and tried to cut down on other platforms such as those rumors awhile back of Halo 5 and Halo wars 2 being on Playstation. Alot of companies are greedy, but perspective on how they should be greedy is a bit important. From your reply I would take a gander and see you as someone with a console superiority complex, but in time I would hope you mature past that and see that the game should take priority over the console; you see older titles can always be remade or improved upon cheaply and efficiently without screwing anyone over. Besides, we are talking about popular game developed by a competent company and it’s application that the screwed up and everyone knows that if you continue to make a sloppy product and provide services for it eventually people will not only stop using those service but refuse to purchase anymore of your product. Common sense would suggest they fix it with haste or they waste a perfectly good opportunity to gain popularity and wealth from their consumers.

I’m just being a realist. As someone who works in the business and logistics industry, I know how sales vs cost works first hand to a major corporation, especially when we’re talking about old product.
Also, as long as Halo is owned by Microsoft, it won’t be coming to PlayStation. It would be like McDonald’s trying to sell Big Macs at Burger King. Doesn’t make a ton of sense.
I appreciate your fervor and devotion to older Halo titles, as I’m someone who really only got into Halo hardcore during Halo 2. Unfortunately, realism has to intersect with desire at some point.
To answer the OP question, no, you can’t chance/customize the actual “Nameplate” anymore since Halo is no longer under Bungie’s control.
