Is there anything being done to counter quitters?

Today I had half my team leave the game as soon as the other team captured the flag in big team. So it was 4v6 for most of the game and even people who joined in progress still left after they joined.

For those of you who don’t leave as soon as the other team takes the lead, how do you guys deal with your teammates leaving? This is making Halo unenjoyable for me anymore because of how many leavers there are. I keep losing because we often end up going 4-5vs8 in Big Team or 2v4 in Slayer and we get stomped so hard. I don’t quit my games because I don’t want to be a part of the problem.

Any ideas?

There really isn’t anything that can be done about people who quit. I mean, you can’t force people to stay in a game, so you either got to grin and bear the loss of your teammate/s or quit yourself. I’ve stuck out a couple of 1v8 games and, well… that’s very not fun

Quit bans are in effect. Any player is reportable for any reason, or even for no reason at all. There are probably other measures that could be taken, but any developer walks a fine line when they start punishing their customers for using their product.

The best solutions don’t involve punishing offenders retroactively. They involve stayers proactively seeking out like-minded people to populate their friend list and their spartan company. I know it’s easy to roll the eyes at that solution because it requires effort. I’m a solo queuer myself and the social aspects of this game are really difficult for me to embrace. But they’ve given us the tools to mitigate the problem and if we don’t use them then we’re as much a part of that problem as anyone else.

And I can appreciate you’re not wanting to quit a 4v8 match because it makes you feel like you’re giving in to the dark side, but that match is already over. You know it. The people on the other team all know it. They only one who doesn’t know it is the server hosting the game. Just walk away and be done with it.

And if it makes you feel any better about the whole thing, I ran some numbers from 20 consecutive team slayer matches that I played about a week or so ago. 12 out of 20 matches had at least one person leave the match before it ended. If you’re not experiencing quitting on that level then count yourself lucky.

Multiplayer is broken right now due to latency issues. Some people are being kicked or opting to leave matches with 3-10 second input lag. I suggest that you exercise some patience while the developers work on next week’s patch. It’s not necessarily trolling of grief quitting.

I appreciate the detailed response and you bring up many valid points. I do have many friends who play the game but unfortunately we don’t get many chances to play to together due to time differences/work …etc.

I must be very unlucky because I counted on average I had 7 out of 10 games where at least 1 teammate left even in ranked which is pretty much a guaranteed loss.

Report them for quitting early
