I walked into Gamestop today to pick up my copy of Sniper Elite V2. As I’m waiting in line I’m looking around; on the wall I see pre-order ads for Assasins Creed 3, FarCry 3, Black Ops 2, Bioshock Infinite, Resident Evil 389270… NOTHING for Halo 4, ANYWHERE in the store.
If 343i wants people to buy this game they had better get their -Yoinks!- in gear and start advertising their damn product. I had no clue Sniper Elite V2 was coming out until a friend of mine who WORKS at a Gamestop told me two weeks ago. Do you want Halo 4 to be like this 343i?
Off the topic, all the clerk wanted was to get me to pre-order Black Ops 2. I told him no and he sounded really thrown off when I mentioned Halo 4. Are they instructed to ONLY try to sell these horrible CoD games, or do they just pick what and how they want to talk about it with customers? Because every time I go in, it’s CoD this, CoD that.
The halo marketing campaign is extremely tuned and precise. They are going to have a huge campaign just not quite yet. The whole live action thing will be a mojor part of it on the web and I’m sure at E3 they will start the other part of it.
The bulk of the game is still a mystery, not much of a point to advertise yet.
Not a lot. They did the thing with Conan, but that’s all I can really think of. They’re doing this live action thing that’ll be exclusively on Waypoint and Machinima, but I don’t know if they’re doing anything else.
And yes, I have exactly the same experience when I go to GAME in the UK. The guy seriously kept pestering me about it while I was trying to buy some MS points, it was like he was doing everything slowly so he could keep on about how I should buy MW3 (This was a while back, I rarely buy anything from a real store any more).
Microsoft is waiting for the right time to explode with the marketing, but for right now, most of the marketing work is being done by word of mouth by fans, and those who’ve played the beta versions, plus Conan had a hand in the marketing. There is marketing going on, it’s just not huge with posters and Halo 4 writing all over the place, and ads all over the TV and internet.
They haven’t even started they’re Marketing Campaign yet so just wait until E3.
e3 to launch we are gonna see a riduculous marketing campaign.
blops2 already blew their load with so much gameplay, what are they gonna show from now to launch to hype people?
we have seen next to nothing. just hold your horses, epic times are ahead.

That would have annoyed the hell out of me. I’ve never been asked if I want to pre-order a particular game.
Yeah, we’re kind of being forced to meet a quota a week for COD BO2 res’. You think its annoying having a Gamestop clerk ask you 50,000 things when you go to buy your game, try being the guy that’s forced to ask that, because your hours are on the line. Not fun at all but a jobs a job.
