Don’t worry there’s always Reddit or Twitter. 
Both are pretty toxic IMO this forum has its issues but infinitely preferable to the alternatives.

Have any 343 employees even used this forum at all? Seems like whenever I hear that one has made some big announcement or reveal I click and see a link to a 343 employee posting something on Reddit.

Is the Halo Infinite store not enough? Is Daddy Microsoft not giving 343i their daily allowance? Is closing WayPoint going to save 343i tons of money?
Closing WayPoint has nothing to do with cost. It’s to do with silencing the criticism towards 343i.

More along the lines that they don’t see any real value in keeping it alive so they’re removing it. Maintenance of the forums also is an expense to them as well, they have to hire people to moderate it and fix it when it starts causing problems. Doesn’t help that these are some of the most obnoxious and overly complicated forums I’ve ever been on in the last 25-30 years of being on the internet by design.
They probably get more opinions and constructive criticism else where, way more on other forums unfortunately. Enough to warrant having any real reason to keep these forums alive is the most likely reasoning. They probably just don’t see any value earned here that they can’t already get somewhere else, like reddit. Since they don’t have to pay to keep a reddit up, it’s no expense at all on their end. They don’t have to spend a dime there.

I do think that in the long run this is a good decision.
Official forums for stuff tend to be more censorship happy than unofficial communities. It might do the community some good to migrate over to a new place where the community on this forum can stay as there’s clearly an appetite considering the forums here are active.

Probably not but I do it so I can brag about doing something with Halo other than being in the death screen half of the game.

I don’t do social media. I have instagram, but barely use it. I won’t be looking for any other forums. This will likely lead my interest in this game to wane even further.

Their whole memo of the forums not being used that much was just BS, people posting everyday and in multiple categories - but I think it’d be even more popular if it hadn’t become this modernised, dull site unlike the previous waypoint version.
Reminds me of how McDonald’s used to be all colourful and now they are dull and mundane, same thing happens with all good stuff.

I honestly never figured out how you change the profile picture here. Just one day it changed to this one, and I can’t seem to change it again.

I would have rather Waypoint get injected with sponsorship ads to deal with rather than lose the forums all together. I just think there are so many other routes they could have gone

I doubt it. The decision to get rid of the forums was probably made 6 or more months ago. Honestly, if you manage something as large as Halo and decide to not have an official forum of your own, well… That speaks volumes about how much you actually care. This is basically the final nail in the coffin.

Most games don’t seem to have official forums these days. It is a relic of times gone.

It’s starting to feel like that as I get older and older ha.
I’ve been playing a lot of PSVR2 lately for my multiplayer fix and I have to say the community on there is generally top notch.
