Is there a normal scope too?

So everyone has been talking about the new “Smart Scope”, and I am a bit confused about it. The way 343 has been showing/talking about it makes it seem like it is an attachment rather than the new scope. So does this mean that you can have the regular scope too?

> If it becomes such that everybody feels like they have to be using “Smart Scope” in order to be competitive, then we have broken the game.

Doesn’t that sound like there is an alternative to it? Like you choose to use the smart scope?

What do you guys think?

I hope there’s an og scope, less screen clutter.

I’m fairly certain that the “Smart Scope” is the new version of the standard zoom-in that we’re used to. I don’t believe there will be a choice between which you would rather use. On that quote, what he meant was that players shouldn’t have to rely on the scope in order to maintain an accurate shot. That means that hipfire should still be just as important, just as feasible, as it always has been. Zooming/Smart Scoping should merely give the player a magnified view in order to help them see further distant targets, not give them an accuracy bonus that leaves hipfire neigh on obsolete.

The Smart Scope is the zoom we know and love (click stick to zoom) but A) applies to all weapons, B) shows a little bit of the weapon on the screen [it’s not that much clutter, fellas], and C) shows cool holographic overlays to help with your zoom/targeting.

I like it. Especially because it doesn’t require holding down a trigger to use. The Click Zoom from past Halos is where it’s at, and that’s what we’re getting.

It’s a reskin of old zoom.

The controller layout says otherwise

That doesn’t actually say whether or not we have to hold down the trigger. All it does is show the default layout. Regardless, what does it really matter? No doubt there are also other layouts, including bumper jumper, to choose from. If you don’t like the default scheme then, as you have been allowed in other Halo games, change it to something that suits you better.

I just got on Halo 4 (xbox 360 version). Had my controller layout set to “Fishstick”. If this layout is like that of Halo 4 then it is just a click.

I think and recall that you do have to hold left trigger (by default) to maintain the zoom.

I sent a tweet over to Josh Holmes about this and he replied saying there are options for this new default layout and old school thumb stick layouts.

In one of the videos, the sniper seems to have the same smartlink we have today. The snipers may be the only weapons to keep it.
