Is there a non Silverlight version of the Waypoint Site?

Also, is it possible to provide a Youtube video alternative for videos displayed on the Waypoint front page so I can watch them on my Linux system?

I swear I remember there being a html version of the website…

Best to wait for Angel or someone similarly qualified to answer.

The only part of the site that still uses Silverlight are the videos. Some of them are available on our YouTube channel, but the majority of them remain exclusive to Halo Waypoint. If the web versions aren’t optimal for you, I’d recommend watching them on your console. We use a media player that adjusts to your connection, so buffering shouldn’t be an issue.

PS: Hi!!

Also angel, thanks for putting the timeline back up!

I’m a Linux user myself, and you can watch Silverlight videos via Moonlight, the open source implementation of Silverlight. It currently works with Chrome, Chromium, and Firefox 3.x and 4.x, but not Firefox 5.x.

Silverlight was made by Microsoft, 343i is a part of Microsoft, so things run on Silverlight.

Hi angel. Thanks for the info.

The Moonlight plugin don’t work correctly on my system in Chrome. Oh well.

Not that I want to persuade you into using another browser, but have you tried if Moonlight installs in Firefox? Because although it’s supposed to work with Chrome/Chromium, I haven’t gotten it to work in those browers myself. But it worked like a charm in Firefox 3.x and 4.x.

On a side note, what distro are you using? I’m running (and using Moonlight) in Ubuntu 64bit since 9.10 Karmic Koala and all subsequent releases.

I run Linux Mint 10 Julia 64bit on a Dell Inspiron 1520. I have a solid state hard drive in this laptop and only 2 gigs or ram. I’ve tweaked Firefox to have it stop writing it’s cache to the home partition and write to Ram instead, and I believe that is the reason Moonlight isn’t working correctly. The I/O scheduler may also have a problem with Moonlight because not all I/O schedulers work well with some solid state drives. It’s just more convenient for me most of the time to use my laptop then my Windows system.
