Aside from cosmetics and sound I’ve noticed both take the same amount of shots to kill. I’ve watched comparison vids on youtube that confirmed it as well (4 Headshots to Break Shield, one to finish so 5 total) The lightrifle can kill in 4 though.

yes, br is better for medium ranged engagements considering it has more recoil than dmr and is not as accurate further away. The dmr doesnt have as much recoil but has “bloom” on the reticle the faster you shoot. Therefore, the dmr is better at longer ranges with short, controlled, accurate shots. The only similarity is, as you pointed out, is they both kill in 5 shots, just in different ways.
No, they are not the same. DMR is much more precise and works good on long range, while BR no. And DMR can also high damage vehicles (that to me sounds stupid as a tank should be bullet-proof)
