Personally I think the Storm Covenant look great, I know there have been a few threads complaining about the grunts and the jackals new looks, I don’t mind them at all and I think they look pretty awesome. So I’m just wondering, will there be an explanation in the game for why they look so different? Maybe they were genetically modified by the Elites? Or is it a retcon of the species?

I think Storm Jackals are supposed to be yet another distinct subspecies of Kig-Yar. The Grunts and Elites really don’t look all that different from Reach.

Frankie mentioned something at EuroGamer about the Storm having some sort of Religious detachment from the Elite separatists in that they still believe that the Forerunners are their gods.

As for their looks, I dunno what their choices of detail on the species of the Storm faction came from. But nonetheless I find them very sleek. Jackals, despite looking different from what we’ve known for so long, now look exactly what I first imagined when I read through the Halo Novels.

Some people got it early, depending where they pre ordered from.
My two cents is that these elites/grunts might be a different race. Like how humans have Caucasians, Asians, Africans, etc. Humans of different races look similar, but have key differences in appearance (other than skin color). Maybe these elites and grunts are of different races and thus would look similar to the races we’ve come to know as the covenant, but their physical characteristics are different.

I forgot,But they gave a humorous one for the Grunts.Its borderline legit?
Maybe they spent too much time in slipspace in a very poor quality ship that didn’t shield radiation very well and mutated.

The only problem with that theory is that humans, while we are varied and look different, we usually all look pretty similar. Other than skin color and facial stuff were basically the same. The Jackals on the other hand changed from bird like to Godzilla like! My moneys on genetic modification.
