Ok, so sure, the need the extra time to polish up the game. I get that. But, will Halo be experiencing a Dry out period by the time it launches? I know I definitely tend to shift between games, quite extremely. For example, I was playing nothing but Terraria a few months ago, and then I shifted right back to Halo and MC. And, Ive got a feeling that my main game isn’t gonna be halo by then. But, I’m still EXTREMELY excited for infinite, and that could pull me over to Halo. But enough about me! What are your thoughts about how worth it it really is?
I think it’s worth it personally. Joe Staten is on board, and the delay means we should get a decent product compared to the games last showing. Halo is and has been since I picked it back up, my favorite game series yet. Of course, should we be in a content drought too much longer, other people might lose interest/hype die out. So I’m concerned, and excited both.
Dry out period? Could you elaborate by what you mean?
I mean, I’ll just do other things in the meantime. I’m always excited for the next game but there’s always something else to do or play.

My guess is that he means people will get bored with Halo waiting for the game and will lose interest and go to other games. I do believe that as well, but I also believe most people would come back when we get more big news and especially when the game launches.
I don’t think it’ll have a dry out period for a multitude of reasons
- the delay will give the game more time to be worked on
- marketing will have more time to hype it up
- Joe Statton
- it’s halo so most people will check it out

Ah I understand now.
I guess to answer the OP’s question I don’t think so. Every time Halo Infinite has been teased it has generated a ton of hype, not to mention when it is ready for release all of Microsoft and 343’s marketing power will be behind it.
i really hope the wait is worth it, and that infinite comes out in early 2021. we need a new halo!

I agree. I game the same way the OP seems to. I binge, I go full on with a title or series then switch. I think players in general will stray because of the lack of a new Halo. Why not ? There’s a lot of good games coming imo, and a whole lot of existing games I want to try on my Xbox Series X. When Halo arrives or there’s info released it will get attention, and like you say it will have marketing power behind it.

Joe staten is only a project leader. Nothing that 343 had decided will be changed.

Too me, that means “They are posting Canon Fodder too slowly”

Marketing will mean nothing if they don’t give us any teases.

Yep. We have no idea how finished the campaign story is. For all we know it’s pretty much wrapped up and Joe is here for the long haul (what to do with Halo Infinite over the next 10 years).

If it’s already done, I will cry.

Why? Apart from the Pilot and the Banished we know pretty much zero about the story (which is a good thing).
The trailer they gave us pretty much told us zero about the plot (except that the Pilot and the Chief land on the ring).
So why the tears?

If the landscape and what we have seen is the majority of campaign, I will be sad.

I’m aware of that…I’m just saying he being on there gives me personally hope for the game.

Me, I can’t stop thinking about something Thant I’m excited for, and that eventually causes me to lose hype.

What we saw was a demo to specifically show off game play. Apologies if I’ve got this wrong but Joe’s role, at least in the past, has been story driven - as opposed to specific game play mechanics. I just assumed he’d be doing similar.
The demo didn’t show anything related to the campaign story. Which I assume was deliberate as they are keeping the story under wraps - as well as avoiding any Halo 5 type issues with showing something that may not end up being in the final cut.
So I don’t think you can make any judgement calls on the story from what we’ve seen… or infer anything about Joe’s involvement. It was deliberately chosen as a non-descript / spoiler-free bit of the campaign.
If your concern was graphics or game play related… that’s a different issue - and I’m not sure Joe’s your man.
I feel that Halo Infinite NEEDED the extra time…if they didn’t get it then they would have shipped a game that would have sunk faster than a brick. The graphics were questionable, the animations needed tweaking, there was a lot of un answered questions and with the promise originally of a public Beta to iron out the kinks in multiplayer scrapped for the time being, ‘There is a LONG way to go’ I thought.
Also halo 5 has to make up for the massive misstep that was Halo 5 Guardians. The game launched with the Bear Bones, only having Campaign and limited multiplayer options, having to wait until more was added to the multiplayer and then finally the addition of forge in December of that year (3-4 months past the initial release for a complete game). The Marketing was misleading as hell, having nothing to do with the campaign except a single cutscene. A badly executed story with a LOT of missed opportunities to further Chief’s development, Lack of rewards for achievement hunters / completionists opting heavily towards Esports when previous titles handled it better and were a balance of both, like Halo 3. I can go on but that is more a rant on my nagging pains about the game.
For me Halo Infinite NEEDS the additional time for 343 to ensure that this game is a Finished product before they release it rather than rely on community loyalty and saying “it’ll be fixed with future updates” as with Halo 5G. Community feed back is critical here as I feel a Public Beta would also help this and possibly this extra time will give 343 the added the option to do so. Remember this is supposed to be the platform that Halo rests on for the “next 10 years” and without a solid foundation then it will all fall apart.
To conclude, the definition “WORTH THE WAIT” will entirely rest on the final product compared to what we were shown in the Demo this past June and what We as a community expect from a halo game. Only then can we as the Halo community say whether this is a worthy title of the halo franchise and worth the time it has taken to produce. I am not saying I don’t have fears about the game, it’s similarity to GEARS 5 in terms of it’s Open World playstyle have me on edge and there are issues with the replacements for Classic Halo Weapons (The Classic ones should be in the game from the start and they extras Added). However until more information is released I cannot make my own assumptions as of this moment.
