Is the title Halo 5 : Guardians a mislead?

The obvious first thought about the name Halo 5: Guardians is a reference to Master Chief, Lock, and maybe the Arbiter or the UNSC, ONI, and humanity in general but then again I wonder if the “Guardians” could really be the Forerunners and in H5G they return to “defend” the Mantle.

Maybe at the end of the game is revealed that Chief, Locke and the Arbiter are the true Guardians( of the galaxy) and not the forerunners. Or maybe is a reference about the precursors and the forerunners that fight for the title of guardians of the mantle. Or maybe something completely different. Only time will tell.

It would be cool if the Guardians in Halo 5’s eponymous title finally explained what they Guardians are in Halo’s multiplayer modes. Does anyone think they could be Precursors? I suppose they were the original Guardians of galaxy and perhaps beyond.

Either way, it’s not going to be misleading, because we have yet to gain extensive information on the story. Way to early to be calling anything misleading…you’re spending time pondering about title worthiness, when only a few things have been revealed lol.

If anything, this should just be about what the title means, as I’ve seen many ask before…

“Guardians” doesn’t have to be referring to just one thing, or even anything specific at all. It could be purely symbolic.

There are tons of guardians, the label isn’t exclusive.
Chief is Humanity’s guardian. Cortana is Chief’s guardian. The Arbiter can be his Elite faction’s guardian. The Forerunners were the guardians of their time with the galaxy. The Precursors were the guardians of theirs.
