Is the storm/suppressor worth using?

Hi, just wondering for my spray class if the storm or suppressor rifle worth using. It seems to me the normal Assault riffle is better as I never see anyone using these weapons.

Suressor is a good gun i use it instead of the AR.

Suppressor is the best automatic weapon save for the SAW. Seems to be equally effective against both armor and shielding, and is more powerful than the AR in terms of damage.

Recently picked up Suppressor, replaced AR for it in a loadout. It’s been going good, contrary to my impressions of it when the game first came out. It’s a pretty strong gun.

Storm Rifle is a personal favourite of mine, but on the downside prepare to drown in assists

Supressor and Storm Rifle are great, only use the Storm Rifle though if you’re accurate, as it can overheat fairly quickly if you’re not careful.

I find the Storm Rifle a very formidable close-range weapon. I prefer it over the Assault Rifle any day.

For me it depends on the map, situation, but I happen to love the Storm Rifle, its great against shields :).

The higher your rank gets the more you will see people using the Suppressor, Storm Rifle, instead of the Assault Rifle. The Suppressor is the weapon you want in your hand if you enjoy just chewing opponents apart, its best at damaging health.

Currently maxing out the Storm Rifle, gotta say I’d rather use the AR but it is good for medium range burst firing. Gonna do Suppressor next and then never again use any of them as my starting weapon (my style is more of a long range player, using these weapons completely forces me out of my comfort zone).

Suppressor absolutely obliterates the Covenant, especially Elites, in Spartan Ops.

What this person said. I have almost 4000 kills with that weapon. The AR is good too but, the Suppressor I find brings an enemy down just a tad quicker. Having said that, I have the past two days started using the AR so I can complete the related commendation and finding it works well. I am not sure of the technical differences although I have scene a video comparison of the two and the Suppressor had a wider spread when control burst fire was used as opposed to the AR with a tighter or smaller spread when used with a controlled burst fire.

The Suppressor is only effective at extremely close range.

I personally prefer the AR but I must admit that there have been times where I have gotten shredded by storm rifles and suppressors. It all comes down to who has better control of the situation.

All automatics are great in this game. Suppressor is especially good up close.

This times a million. Have an assault weapon and Pulse Grenades as your default loadout (like I do) and you’ll have all the assists you could possibly friggin’ want.

AR is my personal favourite assault weapon because it’s hitscan and you can burst fire at a pinch, but I used Suppressor for a bit and was impressed by how good it is up close. The ideal range is a little bit closer than the AR. I haven’t touched the Storm Rifle yet - seriously, I think I have a total of two kills notched up for it. I’ll come to it once I’ve maxed out AR and suppressor.

The suppressor is a devastating weapon when used correctly. Your gonna pretty much need to use PV so you can catch your opponents when theyre not looking or about to turn a corner. Using the suppressor is all about super close range and corners, corners, and yup, corners. Its pretty much the shotgun of the full auto world.

The tricky bit is that you get way to close to melee range for my comfort, and its very easy to have players spot you, or just back up at the right time, hell even use thruster, or just straight run away preventing you from doing pretty much any damage at all to em.

I never use the thing unless im on a very small map or one with plenty of corners, haven is perfect but still hard to work well unless you have thruster pack for the shortcuts unless you like using a JP which can be more costly :stuck_out_tongue:
Adrift is also another nice level to use it on. A good example of a bad small map though would be solace considering how much time your gonna need to spend running away and to cover because of all the vantage points for precision wep users.

I find the AR does the job just as well, has more flexibility and i just better overall. But point blank the suppressor will tear though anyone with an AR like butter.

My AR loadout uses, AR, Boltshot, stickies, promethean vision, mobility, and stealth, but dexterity is pretty much on par with stealth for this loadout and play style.

My favorite times using the suppressor tho were on haven when i was working towards a challenge for full auto kills. Same loadout as before only get firepower instead so u have AR for mid range, and suppressor to replace the roll of the bolt shot pretty much. Then just make sure your using dex over stealth since your gonna need thos fast switches and reloads considering the weps selected.

I personally love mobility but you can easily get away with using AA efficiency instead if you dont care for mobility. Thruster is the only other AA id recommend for these loadouts if you not a fan of PV. Again i dont think the jetpack is as wise of a choice as the thruster thanks to the man cannons.

Anways ive been up for over 36 hours, so sorry for ranting, hopefully you found some helpful info in this wall of text XD

  • Have a good one

All the automatics are deadly in CQB. You can easily out gun a DMR, BR, LR or Carbine user in the optimal range.

The Storm Rifle is good for stripping shields at long range. I don’t use it much in multiplayer but in Campaign it can be an asset when trying to kill a stubborn Elite down a long corridor, for example. Strip the shields and then headshot with another weapon. Kind of like a long range Plasma Pistol.

The AR is the most versatile but has the least DPS of all the auto weapons(were talking primaries.

The Suppressor has the highest DPS of the auto weapons but the least range

The Storm Rifle fits somewhere in the middle. Better range than the suppressor, more damage than the AR. However it also has lower range than the AR, as well as lower DPS than the suppressor. It also has the added bonus of shield stripping faster than the others.

It all comes down to preference. The storm rifle happens to be mine.

Want to hear the truth? I use ALL weapon load outs in the game in ALL my load outs, all spread to each class. It’s really cool, and I think you guys should try it. For my medium rangers I have battle rifle/assault rifle, carbine/storm rifle, then for close quarters suppressor/boltshot, support class light rifle/magnum, long ranger spec OP class I have DMR and plasma pistol!

I LOVE my classes guys, I get to use all the guns all the time because each one is better on certain maps. You guys should try this, I get to spend an equal amount of time on all guns. It makes halo 4 a lot more interesting!

I like all of the automatics, so I split em up in all the right classes.
