Is the REQ system really random

I truly don’t believe the REQ system is random when unlocking packs. Now i haven’t spent any real money on packs or bought any promo packs so this may change the results but i have been using the silver to gold method since launch and keeping an excel sheet to track my progress in each category and after unlocking almost 70% of all the content I have found that the content is unlocking way too similarly across the board. My armor and helmets are always at an identical number and im missing the same set pieces. If it was random i should mismatched pieces all over. It makes me think 343 has some type of locking order on the content. What are everyone’s thoughts on this and have you had any similar findings?

It’s random-not-random. By that I mean since some items are obviously more rare than others, you won’t be getting them. I got all of my Mythics at the end of gold packs, not a single one beforehand.

If you are wondering whether or not packs that are bought with real money have better stuff in them than those earned in the game, well, I don’t know. And I don’t think anyone wants to spend the amount of money it would take to adequately study that.

Honestly I feel I get better items when I pay for them rather than use REQ points.

I feel the opposite. I stopped buying packs with real money because I was consistently disappointed.

Appreciate the response guys but the wasn’t exactly the the point of my post so ill be a little more specific. I understand certain items are more rare than others. What im saying is that i believe 343 has a specific order programmed in which they want you to unlock content through packs especially the helmets and armor. For example my last items i need from a silver pack is the Common Valkyrie EIR helmet and armor set. and uncommon warrior blade helmet and armor set etc…that doesnt happen in a random system.

I agree with Syntherios. I bought a $19.99 Gold pack and didn’t get one Legendary.

That exact event can and will happen in a random system. The odds of it occurring are not great, but it is certainly possible. Based on what others are wearing and the weapons that they are using, I can say that the REQ system certainly has not given me nearly the same things as some of my friends.

It’s random with weighted percentages. As in, a rare DMR seems to have a lower percentage assigned compared to other rare loadout weapons. But there’s still a chance of getting the very low percentage stuff. I had a friend get Helljumper armor from a gold pack really early in the game. I got Nornfang and SPNKR Prime with a ton of Ultra Rare items to go (I got Nornfang before Arrow of Time and SPNKR Prime before SPNKR Ex).
