I have yet to have anything resembling a close match in slayer. It always, always ends up being a blowout to one side or another. So my question is, are ranks just pretty little pixels for show, or does the ranking system completely and utterly fail in its purpose?
Seems like its been failing…
Man I dunno most of my games have been close. Could be that your opponents are unranked in these blowout games and that’s why the games swing one way or the other…like maybe they are two tiers above or below you but don’t have a rank to separate you from them yet
It works!!! But not to anyone who ranks at platinum or above. It seems the lower ranks work fine. My girlfriend got Gold and the matches are ALWAYS close.
Everyone else I know got Platinum, Diamond, or Onyx, and honestly, I feel all 3 of those are the same rank and just kind of get thrown together.
The bottom half works, the top half doesn’t.
It works. Most of my matches have had every player, or at least the majority of them, be close to my rank. Also, the higher rank I get, the harder it gets. That’s my experience anyway.
I feel as though the process of rank placement is unfair which is what leads to unbalanced matches. Not to mention teamwork is a big factor for success.
i think everyone is jumping on the rankings a bit quickly…you’ve got 10 matches before you’re thrown a badge and are expected to live up to it. Give it a few weeks and I think they’ll shake out

But don’t they reset monthly?
I thought the resetting was an optional/only for participation in tournaments?

I agree, but I also noticed that ranked players get placed with unranked players, specifically in games like breakout. I have played about 80-90 matches of it, and I can’t believe how many times I have lost because the rest of my team is playing for their first or second time.
With how new the game is I think most of the problems with ranking is that there has not been enough time to separate the players into more competitive fields, and that depends on how the ranking rests work out

yes, but high level tiers shouldn’t be placed with unranked players, lower tiers like silver and bronze should have priority, I have nothing against the way players are ranked, I just feel it should be separate from those who are, or at least those in the higher tiers. By the way, any news on how often ranks will be reset, or how soon the first reset will be?

Not monthly, but every season. As for how long each season lasts, I’ve no clue.
