Im in EU and its 1pm and it takes me around 10-15 min to find a match, is the games population dead? know they region locked but DAMN
I think they have adjusted region lock as before the hammer storm update I couldn’t play with my Australian friends, if they were in my lobby we couldn’t even search for a game.
Thankfully we can game together now.
I never wait more than 30 seconds to find a game.

I’m in NewZealand and to this day have only been able to match make in ffa once. I have to choose the right time of day for slayer swat etc, if I want to play outside peak times I need to pair up with international friends to get a match, there system is screwed not necessarily the amount of players.

I don’t think op was talking about the popular play lists and more how the geo lock has screwed people in multiple countries when it comes to finding matches during the day for swat ffa breakout etc
i find plenty of matches and i am in the middle east
im in europe too and have lots of trouble to get matches during the morning time (usually arround 3.00am - 9.00am). sometimes i find a match after 15 minutes but it usually says there are not enough people for a match.
during normal daytime and evening i dont have any problems with getting matches, takes arround 10-40secs to find one.
The overall population is still falling. Halo 5 is now off the top 12.
However the vast majority of the population was in the U.S. anyway. I’ve said before both the Xbone and Halo 5 did horribly in the UK in comparison to the 360 and previous Halos. Every one has moved over to the PS4, Cod and Destiny. The region lock is just a futile attempt to fix the U.S. server advantage.
MS and 343i have created the perfect storm to ensure Halo 5 is a horrid experience outside the U.S.

I don’t doubt that the OP cant seem to find games, its just that personally I never have any issues when I try and search.
Things to take into account
- Time zones
- Day of week
- Nature (Wind, storms, etc.)
- Xbox live going down
- Individual connection
- Dedicated servers go downThere’s a lot to consider apart from the games population.

I started experiencing the same as OP’s since early February
I get into matches very quickly.
And on an irrelevant note I popped Halo Reach into my Xbox one and searched for a match and found one in like 10 seconds. That surprised me. The PvP did feel pretty dated though.

A few people have said that after some of the updates have launched they experience long match searching times, no idea why it happens or if 343 can fix it.
Halo 5’s population has dropped and it usually isn’t even top ten on Xbox Live, but it should still be sufficient. There are many other variables to matchmaking than just player count.
