I have been pressing up on that d-pad excited to see how the ping works and absolutely nothing happens. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Your service tag will flash, so only your teammates will see it and not you. But your teammates will only see it if they’re looking in your direction.

It should make a noise or something. Thats pretty pointless if all it does is flash your name. No one will know unless you happen to be looking at them and most people won’t even know it means anything. It basically requires communication to say “I’m pinging my location”. Sounds like such a cool feature that they really didn’t take advantage of.
I think the “ping” location feature shouldn’t be for friendly players but opponents… as in spotting… you locate and track an opponent with your reticule and spot them so your team has a indicator for a small fragment of time (a moment) where they can relay information to each other and set up traps, flanks, ambushes etc. real assist work. (See Gears of War 3) This would greatly assist non-microphone users or players that are not as familiar with the layout or call outs of the map, also greater assisting those that do.
I havent seen people use it but I cant see myself either to know if its working on me
