Is the option to NOT join mid-game still in?

I absolutely hope, or another way of saying it is IT BETTER BE.

Join In Progress is fine for impatient players used to CoD style insta-action and I welcome its addition to Halo - just so long as players like myself - who value the competitive, grudgematch spirit of waiting for fellow players to join the pre-match lobby and waiting for the ticker to countdown - are still looked after by 343i.

That, and I despise joining a match which is all but over, like what happens in every time I play Battlefield 3.

So is the option to choose still in?

Cheers.

Don’t think so, but I recall Frankie stating in an interview that they tried to make sure bf3-like situations wouldn’t occur.

I hope not, then EVERYONE would turn it off then it would be like every halo gam,e before, Eg. 4 v 1

Nope

I hope so. I don’t want to join into an 8v2 spawn trap in BTB.

I also don’t want to join into a losing game that is 49-20.

I also don’t want to be split up with my party because they couldn’t find a team with 4 extra spots.

I also don’t want to join in a BTB game with my party on the losing team being spawn trapped.

Join in progress is dumb.

I’m also going to have to add in all the host switches that are bound to happen. I can’t wait to lose my host to a laggy Colombian kid just because he joined late with his slumber party.

JIP could actually kill MM for me. I would rather wait for a complete game any day. I love the initial rush. It gets you set up for at least the next minute or two.

It was actually Kevin Franklin btw, at 15.33:

So if everyone would turn it off, what does that tell you? lol

Besides, if the game is anything like Halo 3, we should have less quitting. For what ever reason Reach seems to have double the quitters. Regardless, I would deal with the occasional 4v1 to have all my matches starting from the beginning. I do plan to quit out of any game that throws me in the middle of a match regardless of the score.

JIP in Halo 4 works like this:

You can’t join almost ended matches, et the end of the game the game re-search missing players befor starting another game.

If you search with a full team people are probably going to join your lobby.

No words on party restrictions so far.

From what I’ve heard, Join in Progress in Halo 4 is nothing like it is in CoD. This is what I’ve gathered on it from ViDOCs:

In Matchmaking, you will be placed in a game BEFORE it starts, 100% of the time, same as always. The game will start when the lobby’s filled up, just like with past Halo games. Join in Progress can only be used by a friend of a player currently in the match once a spot opens up by means of a player leaving, being betrayal-booted, or lagging out. I say this because all of the times that I’ve heard them mention this feature they’re always talking about “friends”. “Jump into your friend’s game” they say, “Join a game in progress through your friends list” they say, “Help your buddy out”.

Put halo 2 back online. This game is a joke

Better yet include multiplayer (untouched) in the Halo 2 anniversary.

Search with several friends and then you are unlikely to join a game in progress.
I’m not sure if there is an option to turn off join in progress when searching, but the really should be one. I don’t even want to join a game that is less than half way through. For me, it is at the start or nothing!

Did you not pay attention to the join in progress descriptions and all? Matching up shouldn’t be a problem due to the variables it takes into account. Join in progress with the right variables, which halo 4 seems to have. Is helpful.

So many cha-cha-changes might ruin the game for the purists.

Hey guys, want to know how to avoid the problems with quitters without join in progress… visible skill based rankings that get punished for quitting. You will find you are much less likely to have people quitting out of games when it means they are going to derank. Just another reason why skill based rankings are necessary for games like Halo.

Join in progress is a joke. Be prepared for these forums to erupt once people start joining games where they are spawn trapped or losing.

You mean for the people who don’t like games like CoD? If that means purist then I guess I am.

Can you guys please stop comparing Halo 4 to CoD, it’s getting really annoying. You know there are other games that have join session in progress, CoD’s not the only game. Give Halo 4 a chance and stop -Yoinking!- about every little detail you hate. Nothing can change, the game is gold.

There’s gonna be a day 1 patch.
