So I like many others find the new guns in Halo Infinite to be a bit out of place, almost archaic in design compared to the semi futuristic designs of weapons in halo’s past.
But is it possible that that’s the intention? Is it possible that these old style weapons are being used because that’s all that’s left? I remember many theories over the years suggesting that humanity was going to be running low on tech since Cortana essentially EMP’d the galaxy, so maybe the U.N.S.C had to dig up old weapon stashes.
Halo 5 tenía buenos modelos, muy bien implementado, hay armas que regresarán como la pistola de plasma (con un diseño igual, con pequeños cambios).
Halo 5 had good models, Very well implemented, there are weapons that will return like the plasma pistol (with an equal design, with small changes).
But another one like the assault rifle, and battle rifle that is rare in combination but acceptable, I would have preferred an assault rifle like Halo 3, halo 4, halo 5, a battle rifle seems to me to be active but not practical, it looked more fearful and the halo 5, or at least the Halo 2 battle rifle as is, not a combination, I think they are the cover panels, Forcing the battle rifle to use different sights, compared to the halo 5 , which is designed for that.
Personally, there are weapons that if they fail, the battle rifle seems very small, but it can be my perception, or like the energy spada that seems like halo 2, with those curves, and lack of guard, really I do not think anyone asked for a change for this, the sharp model was great even though logically the edge is not necessary, it reminds me of the first version of the sword of mega blocks.
Another example is the pistol, although I think it’s a bariant and not a magnum.
In itself most of the weapons look smooth, and others very similar to other games, but in itself the Ravager looks strange and it seems that they did not care for him.
But anyway, you always end up adapting to them and wishing they were the same or with minimal changes for the next game.
I’m pretty sure they’re modular so you can upgrade them and stuff. I guess we will see if they ever provide an explanation on what kind of game they’re trying to sell.

I don’t think a lore reason is good enough to include weapons that don’t look iconic or look like they belong in Halo.

Oh, come on. You seriously cannot tell me that the Heavy Rifle and the Pistol looked like they belong in Halo. I swear that Heavy Rifle model is from a Call of Duty game or even pieced together Titanfall assets. Even the Covenant weapons are fairly uninspired as well. The Brute rifle that Chief grabs looks like a block of metal with red lights on it. The Revolver he gets looks incredibly out of place in the game as well, especially with that stupid knife on the front of it.
Compare the Halo 3 Shotgun to the new Infinite one. The new Infinite one looks like it came straight out of the newest Deus Ex games.

Looked like typical Halo art design to me. I noticed nothing different.

Okay, compare the SMG from Halo 3 to the Heavy Rifle from that trailer. The SMG in Halo 3 has a sideloaded magazine as well as a generally unique profile. Now go look at the Heavy Rifle. That gun does not match the same style as Halo 3’s SMG, or even Halo 5’s SMG.

When you say “heavy rifle” are you referring to the new battle rifle?

As far as the UNSC weapons I’m not sure what the idea is. For the Banished it makes sense that they will have some different weapons that fill similar roles to ones we’ve seen in the past.
The Banished are not the OG Covenant nor are they the Storm Covenant Remnants we saw in Halo 4/5.

There’s no cohesion behind them art style wise though, like the halo reach AR doesn’t fit with any of the COD style weapons… And I mean things like the new mauler and other covie / banished weapons just flat out look rubbish.

The Sidekick looks a little generic, but it also reminds me of Halo 2’s Magnum and Halo 5’s “Gunfighter” Magnum variant.
The Commando “Tactical Rifle” would fit in with plenty of other shooters, but I can understand the design choice. Having a non-bullpup rifle helps distinguish it from the AR and BR in terms of side profile and reload animation. The red dot sight further distinguishes it visually and communicates to the player that it can zoom (and there’s a precedent in having a red dot sight in ODST’s SMG). Also, the Commando looks a lot like some of Reach’s concept art.
The Banished Ravager does look like a solid piece of metal, but that’s kinda what I’d expect from a Brute rifle. The Mangler revolver looks extremely similar to Halo 3’s Brute Mauler, so it’s funny to hear someone say it doesn’t look like it belongs in a Halo game (all of H3’s Brute weapons had blades as well). Apparently the bladed weapons in Infinite deal more melee damage too, so they’re not just for show.
The Bulldog shotgun reminds me of Titanfall’s EVA-8 and I’d like to see the OG or Reach shotgun design return too, but I’m fine with another shotgun. Given we’ve already seen a Brute using the Bulldog, perhaps it was designed to be a less lethal shotgun to be used against the player while still being worth using for the player. It’s not like the H5 rocket launcher debacle where they replaced the SPNKr with a new model but had it function identically. The Bulldog has a different ammo capacity and reloads “magazine style”.

A lot of people complained about the Halo 5 weapons, particularly the Rocket Launcher that was met with serious derision, so much so that the SPNKr RL was put into Halo 5 and largely replaced the new RL in Arena maps.

I’m talking about the Commando Rifle with the 20 round magazine. The one with the slanted magazine well and red dot sight. The one that looks like “Modern Military Shooter Gun Type 72” or even a bit like an MTAR with a magazine in front of the trigger.

It’s not called the mauler. So just because it looks similar doesn’t mean it is.
