So like most of you, I’m a long time halo player and an unpopular opinion I have is that Halo 5s multiplayer was superb and dare I say it, the best yet. For me, the gameplay and movement was so damn good. You could seemlessy fly across the map.
Now, onto halo infinite. It just feels like a stripped back version of Halo 5, with some of the more basic forms of pickups from games like halo 3 and reach.
It just feels pretty slow and dull after the excitement I had from the faster pace gameplay of 5. The only new element that really stands out to me is the grapple shot, but that’s no where near as good as I was hoping.
Just my opinion, but it would be interesting to see what others think as I know it must appear to fans of the original game play mechanics.
I really haven’t been enjoying my time with this flight. Aiming is incredibly difficult and nearly uncontrollable (much more so than any other Halo I’ve played), the weapons feel weak and inconsistent, and the gameplay in general is just not fun. You run into an open area and get shredded, but when you shoot an enemy it’s feels like you’re shooting at a brick wall, like your bullets aren’t doing anything, even when I get my reticle on the enemy’s head (which is already hard with how awful the aiming feels). i feel like these issues will drive new players away from the game unless 343 does a lot of fixing before launch.
Haven’t played it but already got bored watching people play it on Twitch. They need to switch up the sandbox. The map design, the gameplay flow, it’s all a step down. Would hate for 343 to turn this game into a grindy, cosmetics-driven EXP-fest where the gameplay is second to the customization.

I mean when you watch people play on the same 3 maps then yeah I see what you mean. Thats like 25 percent of the game you’re looking at

I don’t get bored watching Frosty or Shotzzy playing Halo 5 coli, plaza, and truth over and over again. Halo 5’s gameplay doesn’t get old to me. It feels sharp and punishing. It rewards creativity and game knowledge. You can’t play H5 while high off your -Yoink- eating mountain dew and nacho doritos, which is what typical Redditors are interested in.

oh man, that’s what i’m trying to say since 2015. I’m an hardcore halo fan since 2001 and halo 5 is tied with halo 2 as the best gameplay of the series. Infinite seems just a HUGE step back and it’s not even fun as halo 3…
I don’t agree. And I do enjoy Halo 5.
I’m an original Bungie Era player, but Halo 2 was my favourite Gameplay wise until 5 came along.
Infinite for some reason in the first… hmmm 8 hours or so? Felt really off. Controller or M&K. I turned off Mouse magnetisation and it still felt wrong. Losing every Handgun fight at range. Losing every handgun fight NOT at range. Sniper? Nope. Skewer? Lol. Grenades? Not a chance. Plasma repeater? Well that’s a hard no. Nothing was working.
But somehow, somewhere out of nowhere, I changed very few options and suddenly Infinite clicked.
I was racking up the doubles and triple kills. I was Grappling my way through doorways and Ninja-ing people in the back. I was making power weapon plays and knocking people off cliffs with the repulsor. Suddenly I wasn’t just doing well like I can in Halo 5. I was doing well back in the days of 3/Reach. Where you could truly be a force to reckon with once you found your rhythm/niche.
Perhaps Infinite isn’t right for you, but everyone I’ve played with in Infinite seems to have this weird line where they absolutely 100% cannot get into it, and just can’t shoot or win. Then suddenly they’re going 20/2 and having a blast. I think if you give it a bit more time and try to adjust you may find it more enjoyable. Give the repulsor a go near edges and wave bye bye to the competition.

i’m glad i’m not the only one to consider halo 2 and 5 the pinnacle of halo gameplay experience
I’ve been enjoying the flights so far, its a mix of all of the other games and it’s been really fun playing it. They need to fix the bugs but other than that, i’m really loving Infinite. I know everyone’s entitled to their opinion’s but Halo 5’s multiplayer was okay for me and I’ve been playing since Halo 2. Halo 5 IS FUN but i lost interest in it after a year. it just didn’t do it for me. Halo 2 & 3 were sooooooo much fun. At the end of the day it’s about if the game is fun, i’m loving Infinite i just need some campaign gameplay
I didn’t like 5 at all to be upfront about it, but I agree with you about Infinite. I’m bored already and barely made it a few hours. I’m definitely dissapointed.

It doesn’t feel slow at all to me. Ttk is way too fast imo. It’s not boring but I’m not really having fun. I die way too often when I feel like I should have won. Right now I’m playing on an Xbox one and I wonder if that has some thing to do with it. Tomorrow I’ll play on a series x and I’m hoping it’s a difference maker or I just don’t know how much I will play. Can’t hit any thing scoped in. Ridiculously hard to keep a reticle on a moving target. Die in under a second a lot of the times.
This is a true story and not exaggerated. Someone was running straight at me from a lower level. I shot them with the AR while running and they jumped and climbed straight at me. While they were climbing I kept shooting and even meleed. Then I shot some more. They got to the top. Shot me with their AR maybe for a split second then meleed me and I died. Just too many things like that. It feels like Mcc coding and not halo 5.
I don’t evert try to pick up the sniper, which I’m good with in all other halos, because now I just hurt my team. Some thing doesn’t feel right at all. Ttk, almost like anti magnetism on target, I’m just not really having fun. At this point I’m participating to help with feedback and not because I’m enjoying it.
to summarize it, I have always been an halo addicted and to know that this will be the halo for the next 10 years brings me absolute depression and I just cannot figure out what to play in the future…
i feel like this could be the worst halo since halo reach/4

I agree with Halo 5 being the best online multiplayer wise. Have yet to play Infinite though.
But what I know is , I want thrusters to be not a pick up but an armour ability that is always there at least in some modes and high sprinting speed.

omg I Love this reply and I agree even though I play it on caffeine, either coffee, Monster or Red Bull, or random energy drinks when I feel like it BUT I often make shure to work out before gaming , so point being you gotta be pretty fit and focused to compete
I enjoy the hell outta 5, too. But I have been having a blast with the Infinite flights so far. Getting used to to B button dash has taken a bit but I think it’s great.
Really looking forward to the full game on December 8 (hopefully lol).

Do you ever wonder why 343 ditched all that advanced movement crap you spawned with in Halo 5? It’s because the majority of Halo fans don’t like it, It’s no different than COD fans wanting a boots on the ground game and then came Modern Warfare which was insanely popular. The faster sprinting in Halo 5 is an illusion because the maps were just bigger, also it made it so bullet magnetism had to be higher because people are moving faster. Halo 4 and 5 had terrible player retention in comparison to older Halo games which is why they’re going back to a more classic feeling and looking Halo while still modernizing it.
Most of the playerbase wanted a refreshed version of Halo 1 - 3, so it’s very interesting to see now that that’s happened now people suddenly want Halo 5? But if Infinite wasn’t here they’d go back to wanting Halo 1 - 3, beyond this post being beyond a bit of a meme, I think Infinite has done surprisingly well at balancing the two, Halo 1 - 3 people like it and it’s new enough for those of h5 to enjoy it? I don’t understand how they could have done any better balancing both tbh.
As someone who came from the Bungie Era Halos and only played a little bit of 4 in the MCC (It wasn’t as bad as people made it sound). I absolutely love infinite’s gameplay, it’s an absolute blast in my opinion. My biggest nagging point is just the lack of match XP from the battlepass making it feel like you have no reward for playing your best.
I like it from the very first impression so far in contrast to what it was my impression ,at the time, with H4 and 5 respectively. Both i dislike for various reasons but let’s say the comparison ,for me, in regards to H5 vs Infinite
-The kill time feels nice, its still a wee bit fast but not as bad as Guardians(which sometimes whilst playing I was wondering if i’m playing a COD game with Halo textures)
-The maps so far are all good while H5 had one of the most -Yoink- maps ever. What pissed me off more was the audacity they had of reskinning 2-3 times the same map and calling it brand new, the -Yoink-?
The general feel of weapons and art style feels like Halo, and not dull and ugly like 5
The movement is honestly perfect, you feel fast, but not extremelly so to not be able to dodge bullets or fly from point A to point B. I hated h5 movement system with its -Yoink- spartan charge, jetpacks and all that garbage.Combine all that, lag and the radar that covers nothing, you are always dead if somebody is behind you.
The radar is still -Yoink- in Infinite, but this time you have time to react. However ,I think it might change to 25m ,like older Halo games, as it seems 343 is mostly listening to the feedback so far, which is finally about time, it only took them 3 games to finally do a good job…SO FAR,their track record is -Yoink- so my trust in them is low,but not gone completely considering with this game, the pro’s outweight the cons
