Can anyone confirm whether or not 343 consider the jump and strafe move cheating? It allows the player to survive lethal damage, most commonly used against explosions, players are jumping up and down over and over to take advantage. Getting really common. I think it’s a glitch, not intended to be in the game. If that’s true I would consisider using it to be glitch exploitation, and thus cheating. I’m not perfect, so I could be wrong, I just think it’s stupid and annoying. Not to mention people look stupid while doing it. Is there anything that can be done about it? Like putting a limit on how many times you can jump in a row?

It’s not cheating… if someone threw a grenade at you in real life would you just sit there and take it like a man?
Strafing is a dodging technique implored in many different forms of combat. Pretty much same can be said for jumping though since this is a fantasy game the jumping is much higher.
It’s not a glitch, it’s not an exploit, it’s basic game mechanics. If you see someone jumping around stick to strafing and just keep your reticle on their head. It’s not hard to deal with.
yup… jumpers more common in gametypes without AA’s. Myself i switch from bumper jumper config to default based on whether or not i need ot use AA.

Using jump and/or strafe to evade/dodge the blast/hit, in other words you avoid getting hit, is one thing, but when you clearly got hit, you don’t have enough health and shields to survive that particular hit, but you live anyway because of the jump and strafe move, I don’t agree with that being ok. You honesly believe Bungie implimented something that breaks rules of the game on purpose? Why else do you think they reduced the jump height for Reach compared to 3? It temporarily prevented the jump and strafe until people figured out the new timing to make the move work. Are you sure you really believe what you said, or are you just trying to justify your actions? Think about it, you may not consciously be aware that that’s what you’re doing.

Do you know what a glitch is? Bungie isn’t perfect, a glitch slipped through. They probably never found what code was causing it in order to fix it. That’s why I’m asking 343 to find a creative solution to prevent its use.

Please, we both know you’re being defensive because I hit you a little too close to the chest.(I’m refering to my comment about you trying to justify your actions.) Trying to disguise that behind laughter doesn’t work with me.
Hey if I’m wrong, why can’t you address the issue I pointed out? Why would Bungie want players to be jumping up and down like jack rabbits?

As an MLG player, I say it is completely legit. If you are seriously not trolling and want to know if its legal, it is completely legal and legit.
Now onto why this works:
Grenade explodes, I jump, grenade lunches me far into the air, I crouch while in air to reduce fall time, I shoot you while you try to figure out how I survived and where I am now. It is all timing and skill.
EDIT: You can also do this while in a DMR to throw off the other persons shot. Ever played MLG Octagon? It was designed to teach how to/counter this
Also, may I point out one thing? Anyone who has been calling for faster gameplay (aka instant kills), and also says the jump and strafe is fair, is a hypocrite. What the jump and strafe does to a fight is not faster gameplay, in any definition.

Oooh, looks like I hit a nerve. Hah.
Do you have video of this actually happening. Maybe something to help prove your point. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with this if you can’t kill someone who is bunny hopping COD style then you are just a bad shot. If they used this sort of technique to dodge a grenade good for them obviously your throw was not good enough.
