I’d have looked at a couple of reviews but really, who can you trust to review a game without bias these days? The players seemed to be the most logical source of information for the game, so I ask. Is Halo Wars 2 worth getting? I’m contemplating buying the Halo Wars 2 ultimate edition if that’s the case, because I do also enjoy the first Halo Wars.
If you like rts and halo you will enjoy this game, It’s an upgrade to the original in every way
No
I totally think it is, especially if you can get it on sale. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get over that you’re good.
It is and it ain’t.
The units are pretty imbalanced in an un-intuitive way so when you want to learn what to do its quite hard. Often times you end up with armies that are made up of every unit in the game because I dunno just cause. The options are not as clear as in Halo wars 1. Why does 7 grunts, 12 elite rangers, 4 hunters, and 2 engi’s truck just about everything in the game? I dunno but it does. In the late game you can also find yourself playing wack-a-mole trying to find the right unit that will work and finally put the nail in the coffin. Locus, which only killed buildings in Halo wars 1, find themselves probably being the most useful unit in the game cause they kill everything but vultures, marader’s, and scrabs/condor’s for practically free. Creative doesn’t seem to realize the actually issue with them to so by the time they’re balanced they won’t be worth much.
It is fun to play together with friends way more than it is to play solo. This is what makes it not worth to me. If I didn’t have friends that played this game all day every Sunday and Monday I wouldn’t have bought it at all and I loved Halo wars 1. The games has a long way to go.
Well… if you like a good RTS you better dont buy that game. IF you like RTS and like Halo than maybe yes but dont expect too much from it like from C&C3
I say yes if you like rts games especially if you can grab it on sale.
Buy Starcraft lotv the best rts there is,really worth the money
I would definitely say so. I’m a veteran RTS player, and despite what other people say I think this game is great. It is much more welcoming to newer players than Starcraft, which is practically impossible to get into at this point due to how high level the majority of the community is. Plus, it’s Halo! So that’s a win too! If you liked Halo Wars 1, you will probably like this game. If you didn’t like Halo Wars 1 because you felt it was lacking depth, you will also probably like this game because it has a lot more to offer than the first one.
Just keep in mind, this is an RTS. It has a much higher entry level than other games like shooters, even if this particular RTS is more welcoming. I feel like a lot of the negative feedback this game gets is shooter players that don’t have the patience to learn the mechanics, and just come in expecting big battles. That’s not what an RTS is. It can be, but you have to master the fundamentals to survive things like rushes first to get to that point.
If you can find the game at a discount, I’d say 100% buy it. If not, still probably buy it. It’s a lot of fun. Just expect to sink a good bit of time into it to understand how the game functions.
It’s a must buy if you like RTS games but you need to decide if you like it or not by simply buying it, you will never know unless you try it yourself!
