Is the game even stable enough for more content?

This a genuine question.

  • Theater is broken.

  • Custom games are broken

  • The developers eluded to not being able to handle adding playlists

  • glassdoor reviews pointing to insurmountable technical debt.

Is it a bad engine with shoddy code, or is it bad developers who can’t code

When you say broken… I get confused.

Tbf, I haven’t used theatre since 2008, but custom games for sure seem to be working at least so far as I’m able to jump into random lfg lobbies and play whatever these crazy kids cook up.

I don’t think this game is stable at all

I mean they didn’t even make the engine from scratch they Frankensteined the BLAM engine and now we have an engine that can’t support basic UI changes.

No. I’d compare it to a table with a wonky leg…you can make adjustments but if you go too far it is likely to collapse or fall over.

Clearly they are struggling with adding content, the UI is so restrictive that they can’t even add playlists without breaking something, and every patch has to go through a long winded approvals and verification process so it’s literally impossible to provide a live service.

The game is broken at its very core…and we all know that you can’t make a strong building if the foundations haven’t been laid properly. It needs a total overhaul from the ground up from the evidence we’ve seen so far. Quite frankly it’s an embarrassing mess.

I don’t know how this game will work for you. I play from Europe and I don’t see that any of the usual problems of lag, desync, matchmaking, lost bullets, and things that we already know have been solved.
It’s already impossible to find a solo/controller ranked match.
It’s all very unstable and you go from superman to pariah from one game to another and even in the same game. In the evenings and nights in Europe it is even worse.
It was always played badly from Europe but this Infinite is the last straw.
Why do we want more content if we can’t play it properly?
I play a couple of games every day in case they fixed something but, bah, this is finished.

What time are you searching? I’m often unable to find games in certain playlists (such as FFA) but never has issues with either Ranked playlist tbh.

Totally agree. I often start games and get a bunch of kills without dying then it’s almost as if someone hit a switch and none of my bullets register…it shouldn’t be like one minute then a completely different game the next whilst still being in the same game! It’s ridiculous.

I’m in the UK and only able to play evenings or late at night. I have no idea what a good server or connection feels like any more due to the desync or being placed on US servers…to be fair, the desync is still a massive issue even on low ping EU servers.

I remember the 500 page thread on here during the Halo5 days all too well!

Both issues need to be addressed hand in hand…but yeah new content is useless if the game still plays like a turd.

No need for that…their “live service” means that even minor patches have to go through an arduous approvals process so they will announce and release details of any fixes before they happen in game.

It really feels like you get momentum in this game, you can get 5-10 kills in a row and then nothing for 5 minutes and then in the end of the game you get 3-4 kills to even out the bad score, to make you continue playing. Its like you get stronger for each kill. I feel this too often to ignore it. It doesnt feel like its only skill based, some games I end up with 24 kills and my team mates only get 8 kills.
I think One problem is all different hz panels, 30-120 players in the same game makes it uneven from start. A friend and I have 120hz LG Oled and the others have 30hz Xbox One consoles.
Maybe its worse desync when players have different hz in the same game.

Hello. Well, between 19-22 h (GMT +1), but it also happens at other times. After waiting 10 minutes without success I leave it. I have played a few times ranked since the update, I see too many problems (I was trying to complete the initial ranking again). In crossplay I do find games but in the conditions that you already know.

I play 2000 km from the UK server (my closest server). Imagine how it works! LOL (I must say that yesterday afternoon I played a few games of “Fiesta” and it didn’t work badly at all, I don’t know why).

The ping just doesn’t have much to do with it. It always marks 45/46ms even if it works well or badly. Anyway, I’ll have a little more patience because I’ve always liked Halo. Greetings.

It happens exactly as you describe.
And it may also have something to do with them wanting Halo to work on all PCs and all Xbox models being so different in power. it is possible that they artificially introduce a “compensation” but it is evident that this does not work.

The certification process is something that the Xbox Store (or Playstation Store for that matter, although it doesn’t apply here) require whenever an update is pushed out. This is not unique to Infinite. It’s main purpose is to ensure (continued) compliance of the software with the store’s rules. It’s the same with all the Mobile Phone stores or the Windows Store for example. Most vendors seem to be able to make stuff work within those boundaries though (one week lead time required for updates on the clients - anything that’s server side only and doesn’t require changes to the client software is not affected by this).
