Is the Didact back on Requiem?

Before the Didact was blasted off by a grenade, he activated the Composer and unleashed its deadly power on New Phoenix.

When charging it up, a slipspace event occured under the Composer as stated by Cortana in Midnight:

> Cortana: “Activity! Significant slipspace event, building under the Composer.”
> John-117: “He’s powering it up.”

The Didact fell into that slipspace event whether still alive or not.

Now when watching Spartan Ops - Episode 5: Memento Mori, we can see that Doctor Halsey activates the soul of a Promethean Knight:

> Roland: “Doc, this things looks … kinda familiar!”
> Halsey: “Yes, it’s very similar to an AI matrix. But we expected that.”

(I love when she is blown away by that pulse. Made me lough)

> Halsey: “Roland! Freeze all monitors!”
> …
> Halsey: “Not pictures! Memories! An alien AI full of human memories!”
> Thorne: “That’s New Phoenix. I grew up there.”
> …
> Lasky: “The UNSC is aware that Prometheans are ancient humans.”
> Halsey: “That is not ancient; that is the attack on Earth from six months ago!”
> Thorne turns towards a picture of the artifact the Spartans retrieved from Requiem.
> Thorne: “You knew.”
> Lasky: “This isn’t possible! I have no idea how all these memories got from Earth to here!”
> …
> Halsey turns towards the screen Thorne was looking at.
> Lasky: “What is it, Doctor?”
> Lasky views the screen and the artifact on it.

So we know New Phoenix was utterly composed by the Didact. Both the artifact and the human memories were somehow transferred to Requiem. And there was no Covenant on Earth to do so.

I suspect that the Didact launched the artifact, landed it on Earth. Then he activated the slipspace portal to Requiem. He started the Composer and send all the human souls to Requiem. Do you remember that he built his first Promethean army composed of humans on Requiem as well? (As seen in the sixth Domain Terminal video.) So I suppose that his Promethean Production Facility is also located on Requiem.

Now that figured out, we can come back to the subject of this thread. If the slipspace portal inside the Mantle’s Approach really led to Requiem and teleported the human souls and the artifact there, then the Didact, whether dead or alive, might also have been teleported back to Requiem when he fell into the slipspace event after his defeat.

Do you agree?

Good theory indeed. Whomever, the Prometheans are imortal. They can be recreated by watchers anytime they die. The destruction of data makes them unable to be absorbed by the Flood (in theory) so the Didact won’t need to teleport these “human souls to Requiem” They can be turn on already at Eearth and unleash chaos.

I thought the slipspace event was to do with the composer firing at Earth but didn’t really think too much about it.

So you’re saying there was a portal open that was sending the composed humans (and Didact’s body, whether dead or alive) directly back to Requiem?

Interesting idea…

I like this theory. It makes sense and it isn’t overly complex.

Basically, that’s right. But the human souls have not been put into a “shell” yet. So they faded; they just dissolved. Look at what Cortana says on the Composing:

> Cortana: “Are you okay? I monitored the data pulse.”
> The Master Chief looks around, seeing the ashes of the composed human scientists.
> Cortana: “I could hear them.”
> Cortana looks down at the ashes.
> Cortana: “What was left of them.”
> Silence for a moment. Master Chief turns around hurrying away.
> Master Chief: “We need to move!”
> Master Chief halts.
> Cortana: “These people are gone.”

And I still wonder how the Watchers are able to spawn the body of the Promethean Knights.

Yes, it is just putting small pieces from the campaign and Spartan Ops together without having to think too deeply. These pieces of info were given one by one and certainly there will be more of them.

at first i thought “oh god not another one of these threads!” but this is actually a pretty good theory and seems pretty solid. never saw the slipspace part as anything different before.

Yeah man, I don’t like “these kind of threads either”. There are too many of them without enough detail to sustain their theories. It’s almost like spamming forum readers XD

> And I still wonder how the Watchers are able to spawn the body of the Promethean Knights.

They teleport new bodies in from elsewhere using small-scale slipspace ruptures.

Hey, yeah, they could actually do the same teleporting thing that Promethean Knights do in combat. Good thought

Yeah, I’d say there’s a good chance he’s back on Requiem somewhere.

> Yeah, I’d say there’s a good chance he’s back on Requiem somewhere.

The only strange thing about it is that if he was still there he hasn’t shown himself for more than six months.

As I recall the artifact teleporting Dr. Glassman and Spartan Thorne was the Didact’s gift. If it was sent to Requiem after/during the Composing how could Jul’Mdama have considered it a gift from the Didact?

> The only strange thing about it is that if he was still there he hasn’t shown himself for more than six months.

Well he was injured so he may take some time to recover. Also, his ship was destroyed so he might not have access to sufficient resources to make another assault yet. Keep in mind that the Didact is a brilliant military strategist, he could be biding his time. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jul’s clever plan is actual being orchestrated by the Didact. Perhaps the Didact is part of the Invasion of Infinity? It’s partly Forerunner and he needs a new ship. Could be an interesting return for him.

Like I said, if the Didact is back on Requiem he may have direct contact with Jul. Jul is now known as the Didact’s hand and he seems to have intimate knowledge of Forerunner technology and Requiem itself with no explanation. It would make sense for the Didact to be the source of this knowledge. Maybe after the Didact was teleported back he gave Jul the artifact as part of his plan, hence the name “Didact’s gift”. It’s all speculation at this point but we’ll find out in the new year.
