Do you think the Covenant is better now? Was it better before the war with humanity? Thoughts, comments?
In halo 3 two grunts survived and escaped John-117… As they ran away, they could be heard saying.
Grunt 1 “You know, at this point, if the demon gets us, and rips out our little skulls, and…and takes off our backpacks, and then humps us with his big… demony… butt!”
Grunt 2 “Ha-ha, we deserve it!”
The war ended and they swore never to bear arms forming what is now, The Unggoy Consortium. A Unified trading fleet whose main export is Moa Burgers, a grunt variation of Alt Burgundy and the distribution of UEG Blast soda to the outer colonies. In 2558 their Influence has caught the eye of ONI due to the ever growing Mercenary Defense fleet of Kig-yar and Sangheili looking for cold hard Credits.
Honesty though after kilo-5 trilogy i have no clue.
While they aren’t following a false religion that was looking to destroy the galaxy they also have no unification and are much weaker. While the Covenant was terrible it certainly was better than anarchy I’d think.
How do you judge better off?
As a military power most certainly before. Things were simple. They were top dog. They could rely on completely stupid tactics and win just through numbers and raw power. Now you have tons of splinter factions that don’t like eachother and an empire in ruins, and a humanity that can actually punch back now and then.
For grunts i’d say its possibly better post-war. It’s unclear though given we don’t really see a ruling body for them postwar, they might just end up as refugees with whichever faction they ended up with. There’s more opportunity for them now at least.
Brutes are likely on the down now, but they weren’t treated so great prior to the schism anyway, so its shaky. They aren’t held back necessarily by elites anymore, but they seem to be enemies still.
Elites are in a bit of a mess. They were just shy of being the top dogs of the top dogs, but now they have to figure out their own path again.
Drones and Hunters are unknown.
Engineers seem to be better treated by humans. However a lot of them went missing with the Prophets and I doubt they want to turn over a new leaf.
Prophets most certainly are not doing better post war.
Jackals however are doing marvelously post war. As effectively space pirates, a giant empire falling a part is just about the best thing that can happen to their species.
Change the title to pre-war.
Anyway, they were better pre-war because apparently they have absolutely no ability to deal with machines and those machines are so super sensitive that within months everything went to hell. They probably have THE worst technology in the universe if it totally breaks within months with no maintenance. I guess you can compare it to Formula 1 cars. Their stuff breaks down constantly.
> Prophets most certainly are not doing better post war.
I think that the vast majority, if not all, of the prophets lived on High Charity when the flood attacked, so they are mostly extinct.
The Covenant were better during the war as they were a unified force. When the Great Schism began, they started to lose power, and ultimately lose the war

I never understood why karen travis tried so hard to fit her whole triology within a year of h3’s ending when she had another 3 years to play with.
the empire was strongest. since they all followed someone unlike the meercanary covenant forces
Before the covenant lost they were a real threat, for 30 odd years they kicked humanity’s -Yoink- again and again, now entire fleets just seem to get destroyed by one UNSC space ship. The only reason the remnant’s have made any progress is due to people like the Didact and Jul mdama commanding efficiently and UNSC command people like Palmer constantly screwing up.
The Covenant Empire.
Empire
It was better pre war. Post war there is no covenant. Only the Sangheili have an interstellar government and that is challenged by a hundred warlords. Lekgolo and Yanme’e are Unknown, KIg-Yar pirates are profiting but the Kig-Yar are a mess, Jiralhanae are doomed to starvation, San’Shyuum reformers are almost extinct, Unggoy are sealed in 3 fates, independent factions with a future, Unggoy following warlords who will give them a future and those stuck on Balaho and will regress back to Tier 6 if external help does not arrive. Huragok have vanished and those in the UNSC did not come from the Covenant. The fringe is most likely a mess too.
