Is the cindershot OP?

The cindershot is an amazing weapon, and may be too amazing. It’s powerful enough to 2 shot players, the blast radius is insane, and it pulls them in as if it wasn’t strong enough. It just seems a little too strong to me.

Yeah, I am liking it more and more now that I understand how to use it. Aside from the damage output and kills, I’ve noticed that in Quick Play, players get flustered and confused when I pound them with the Cindershot, especially if they’re bunched in a group of two or three. It may sound silly, but I honestly think the bright flashes and sounds affect their ability to play properly for just those few seconds. Maybe this will all go away when people become accustomed to it. We’re still in the very early stages of the meta game, after all.

Is it OP? I dunno. It is a power weapon, after all. That’s kind of the point, right? Though, the fact that I am just an average player, but I’m able to dominate a Quick Play match with it, might indicate that it is OP. Still, if it’s too effective and detrimental to the meta game overall, I support balancing it out, of course.

I noticed in Quick Play on Bazaar, no one was ever trying to pick it up in a game of CTF. So I kept grabbing it and just wrecking the other team. Near the end of the match, they started picking it up and not even using it, just so I didn’t have it, I think.

It’s funny to keep seeing all of these posts about various weapons being useless, but I really think it’s a matter of figuring out how they are supposed to be used or how they can be used. For the example, today I also picked up the Pulse Carbine several times. While it is indeed difficult to kill with, I got several quick kills by using it to strip shields and then switching to my other weapon to finish up. It was also good defensively, as stripping shields off of an opponent far away made them run for cover rather than advance on our ball carrier/flag/capture zone, etc.

I think the Cindershot is in a good place. It’s a shotgun type weapon with a decent learning curve and some luck needed. I’ve had situations where my targets either luck out and my ships ricochet the wrong direction or they manage to move Sligh faster than rounds at longer range and dodge a few.

Are you sure you’re not talking about the Heatwave?

Most people would describe the Cindershot as something akin to a grenade launcher. The Heatwave is more like a shotgun.

Btw, the Heatwave is another weapon that has really grown on me, even though people didn’t seem to like it initially

My bad, I’m tired and the weapon differentiating part if my brain is a bit fried after hours of Fiesta trying to get 5 sprees.

nah, its a power weapon

it is way better than that crappy shotgun. the bulldog. they really need to fix the shotgun so it is more like how it was on halo 3

I think its fine. Less so in something like Fiesta when the enemy team seems to have nearly 100% uptime on the gun, but that has nothing to do with the weapon itself.

lol.

I have a whole thread about the Bulldog and why it’s actually really good.

Has a bit too much ammo me thinks.

I actually really like the bulldog. I see no reason to change it.

Cindershot is a power weapon. Its ok how it is.

At least for the brute shot enemies actually used it in campaign but nothing even uses it in infinite. I would have definitely wanted a weapon enemies could actually use tbh. The gravity vacuum sucking you in is so lame as well.

i love when the other team starts to pick up the pulse carbine after seeing me demolish them. However, just do an extra burst with it it’ll will kill outright no need to switch weapons.

I kinda wish it acted more halo reach grenade launcher where you can control shot blast or delay it.

AI doesn’t know how to use arcing weapons anyway. You give it to a marine and they’re absolutely a monkey with it.

Nah, it’s no different than the rocket launcher. Sure, the cindershot has more ammo, but that’s pretty much it. It’s one of my favorite weapons they added besides the heatwave (love that gun.)

Eh I don’t know; I think that’s just how a power weapon is supposed to be. It’s like if you get a tank in btb. Yeah, it’s over-powered, a noob could probably dominate with it, but hey, it’s a tank what did you expect?

I think it’s just right for what it is and the rate in which it spawns. It’s a little insane in fiesta because it’s so strong, but in normal multiplayer it fits a perfect niche. You actually WANT to fight over and control it, which should be the point of all power weapons.

I love it personally.

I thought so too at first, but You can absolutely snipe people and vehicles with the controlled projectile
