I understand, for casual playlists, that you will start with ARs and stuff but will the competitive playlists keep the good ol’ BR as the starting weapon?
If anyone can shed some light on this topic, I’d appreciate it

If I HAD to choose a precision gun to start with though, I’d rather go DMR. Single shot marksman for the frakking win.

they had BR starts in the beta, I know that for sure. And I think there was like a separate game mode where there was only BR starts if memory serves me correctly. Personally though I much prefer AR/Magnum starts. Makes it rewarding if you know all the weapon spawns
I bet Competitive will still have BR Starts, and the HCS Playlist for H5 Will be BR Starts, hopefully

And No they won’t be and BR lovers are mainly competitive people and competitive people don’t find swat to be, well, competitive so that wouldn’t happen

I honestly hope there is a competitive playlist that has BR starts, but I am tired of having it in every match, it gets EXTREMELY old, it makes me hate it almost. It’s the same thing all the time, strafe, shoot, strafe, shoot, jump, shoot and add spamming grenades in there, it is awful.

I agree, lets just have like an alternate slayer type if you want BR or DMR starts.

its not that awful you just have to play smart and thats thing that comes with SMG/AR starts is constant rushing out of map control areas to get kills, or thats at least what I’ve noticed when playing SMG Starts in MCC.
I really hope so.
What I noticed in the beta is that the first week (AR/Pistol starts) everyone was actively going around the map and engaging eachother. The the second week (BR/Pistol starts) everyrhing slowed down immensely. No longer were people going at eachother, they were now just taking pot shots at eachother from their base. The third week (BR/AR starts) kinda restored this, but I was already off the Breakout as that ws just so much better.
Bottom line I wouldn’t really have a problem with BR starts, but I’d prefer AR.
Hopefully it is still there in some fashion, but for Halo 5 AR starts work better every Halo pre Halo 5 were better as BR starts.

If the post-beta Pistol is as good as 343 has claimed then I don’t see what some of you are getting you so excited about as the Pistol will fill the same role. The AR is a non-factor, its never been AR vs BR starts in Halo 5, its Pistol vs BR starts.
Although the H5 AR is a solid and reliable close range weapon, on its own it would still be an awful starting weapon, its the Pistol that really matters. Its apparent to me that there is just as much irrational BR hate as there is irrational BR love. Its not the BRs fault that the auto/dual wield-able weapons were so poorly balanced in Halo 2/3Reach. I swear some people here are incredibly superficial, the Pistol could end up being just as good as the BR and used in the same way and people would still sing the praises of “AR” starts simply because the weapon that is actually running things doesn’t look like a BR.
As for whether BR starts are phased out completely it looks like it will be the case at launch, however I would not be surprised to see BR starts in BTB when it is added post-launch, and if the Pistol ends up being sub-par at launch you can bet there will be a push for either a Pistol buff, BR starts, or both.

Well as far as i’ve seen in warzone gameplay the pistol looks pretty uninspiring. Atleast in regards to being a spawn weapon.
This game is already insanely easy to disengage in. Spawning with a CQC weapon and a weak mid range weapon is only going to amplify the issue. Good luck trying to kill intelligent players who have sprint AND thruster with an AR and a pea shooter pistol. Sounds soooooooo fun.
