The binary rifle seems to have been tweaked quite a bit from Halo 4 and so I’m confused as to whether or not it’s still a one shot kill to the body. I’ve been aiming at the body because that’s what I’m used to with that gun but now I’m missing a lot of kills. Does the beam it shoots need to stay on the target the entire time for it to be a one shot to the body?
It’s a one shot if you keep the beam on them for the duration of it’s burst.
Yeah, it can still 1 shot, but in my experience, it has to remain on target the whole time, other wise it’s a 2 shot like other snipers. That’s why there’s more ammo as well.
Its like the focus rifle or the sentinel beam, keep it on them. Aim at the body as the binary rifle has a large recoil. Not only that, it is strong against vehicles, especially the twin jewels of maethrillian. But not too strong… So use the binary mostly on infantry.

Do enemies die faster if you aim for the head or does it still take a full burst? I play on a higher sensitivity and so keeping the beam on the enemy the entire time can be a bit difficult since a slight touch of the stick puts my reticle as far away from the enemy as possible.

Just aim for centre mass.
Headshots have no effect I believe.

I think they do. If 50% of the burst takes down shields, then inflicting critical damage would only take about 25% more for a kill rather than the other full 50%. Using very round numbers here, btw.
The Binary Rifle fires a beam of short duration, so you need to keep the beam on target for its duration in order to effect a one hit kill. Aim for the body and let the beam “walk” up to the head. Practice in forge if you need to get the hang of its timing and shooting style. If took me a few wasted rifles to figure out how to use it effectively.
Just aim for the body portion of your target, as the beam will move up from recoil
It is still a one shot but requires more skill to use now. I tend to focus center mass and the recoil will carry the beam upward to the head. Not sure if it does extra headshot damage but I would assume it does.
