Is the Banished symbol based on that Forerunner key Atriox has?

The Banished symbol is a triangle inside three square like sections. In the end cutscene Atriox opens that door with a device that kind of starts off like the interior bit and then when it splits it sort of looks like the thing Banished symbol with the light being the interior bit.

I wonder how long Atriox has had this device? Perhaps he got this and learned the truth about the Covenant? So he made it the symbol of his rebellion. Maybe it’s a bit like the Janus Key and he can use it to access all this Forerunner gear without being human.

Edit - Also when he first stumbles through the corridor there’s a weird version of the Eld (Mantle) symbol. Why is that different? I noticed a few variations of this in the campaign such as when you first go down into those various pylons.

The pattern comes from the top view of his hammer. The similarity may be coincidence or the inevitability of fate

The way it has it in his palm and puts it onto the pedestal mirrors the way Chief does with the Weapon whenever you open a door. Similar sort of pedestal too. So perhaps it’s a Forerunner AI rather than a key?

Maybe that’s how he planned this whole thing to overthrow Cortana and beat the UNSC. If he had a Forerunner AI as a tool it could give him an edge.

The last time we see Mendicant Bias was on the Ark, so maybe Atriox allied with him

Fun fact, somebody picked this up on YouTube but you actually see this Key/AI when Esharum has his cutscene about how the Banished will never bow to anyone and says “Not her”. It’s the thing at the bottom which opens to show the Cylex and the broken ring. So he had this key/AI before arriving to Zeta Halo. The Harbinger didn’t give him it.

I mean, if Atriox has “caged” Medicant Bias then he’s playing with fire and the Banished have almost certainly become pawns of the Precursors/Endless/Flood. You can imagine it twisting his mind pretty easily. Organisation insisting it’s about breaking chains and freedom becoming slaves to evil; ironic. :smirk:

Also it would be a nice parallel between the villain and Chief if Atriox also has an AI with him.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but there are small forerunner structures shaped exactly like the banished symbol if viewed from directly above the structures. They are quite small but I have found at least one on every single land mass in Halo Infinite…

It seems odd that so many exist, I feel strongly that they are part of a fututre DLC or maybe some sort of Easter egg, I can’t quite figure out which. Maybe you use this said “key” at these locations…

Just a thought…
