Is the Bandit Rifle being introduced to stop hacks?

Is anyone else hoping the bandit rifle replaces the sidekick due to spamming? So far, the bandit rifle looks to be a close to mid-range precision weapon. Which is the sidekicks tool slot. If 343 is sticking with each weapon has a role idea. Maybe it’s 343’s answer to undetectable mod packs on controllers that turn the sidekick to full auto. I hope its max rate of fire is somewhere between the sidekick and mangler.

I’d imagine it is being introduced to add variety.

Spamming the sidekick makes it less effective, not advantageous in normal play. Even then there’s a distinct ROF cap on the gun that prevents it from achieving true full auto status even with a macro.

You can also play using a (stock) Elite Series 2 controller and set the triggers to high sensitivity, where you barely need to tap the trigger to fire. Doing this can get a lot of shots off quickly with the sidekick.

Honestly the Bandit is gonna be able to reach in 4v4.

Sure it doesn’t have a scope but that means it can’t be unscoped when you smart-link which is going to be huge on longer 4v4 sightlines. A huge part of why the BR and Commando struggle against sidekicks and ARs at range is that they get unscoped. And instead of fixing the core issue by adding unscope to smart-link, they are introducing a weapon that will effectively replace them.
