Is the Assault Carbine the Rail Gun?

I was just wondering because this article here on Halo wikia refers to it as the Asymmetric Recoilless Carbine-920

no, but its scientific name is close

lol ya I noticed that too in the link you sent me.
I don’t think so, for two reasons:
1)they told us there would be a carbine, and they told us there would be a railgun. they didn’t hint that they were the same (it’s possible though)
2)according to the page you sent me earlier (Carbine | Halo Alpha | Fandom), the spiker is also considered a carbine, but we don’t call it that

Awesome, thanks. Makes sense. I got caught off guard when I posted the link in your thread I noticed it referred to the Rail Gun as a carbine.

The term “Carbine” refers to a shortened variant of a weapon firing the same kind of projectile. With that said, I think this could be a shortened variant of a weapon similar to a Spartan Laser or a Gauss Cannon, not the type of carbine you’re probably thinking about.

If this looks like this, shoot me.
(srry if I sound mean, that is not my intention)

Trust me, I don’t care. In fact I can be a little acidic myself at times. That isn’t the Carbine I am speaking of. I’m talking about the one 343 had dubbed the successor to the SMG.
