i been reading glasslands one of the spartans had it and said it was lighter than the old one. the armor chief wears in the trailer looks a whole lot lighter than the way it looked in halo 3. i remember i seen a interview that said the trailer then take place within the story it was announcing so maybe later in the game he gets that.
I don’t see how Chief could have got his hands on new armor.

It should be noted that the Annoucement Trailer was a dramatisation. We shouldn’t look at it from a canon perspective. So there is a possibility that it was Mark VII; BUT he isn’t going to jump out the cryo-tube with it.
My guess is that the Dawn already had a MkVII on board. During the year or so that Chief was asleep, Cortana figured a way to get it on him.

When the game starts they will obviously show him get new armor. But the trailer armor isn’t final. They said this somewhere but I forget.
I don’t know what ‘arnor’ is. But, the armor in the trailer isn’t official. More of a placeholder.

The armor has went through 4 different designs since the trailer, and it’s still not confirmed he’ll have a jet-pack.
Where are you guys finding this information?
I was thinking this to. Maybe chief will have the H3 Mark VI till the UNSC find him and give him an upgrade.
