Is the AR the best CQB weapon?

Hey everyone! I have an interesting thought got you: is the Standard Issue AR the best CQB weapon in Halo 5?
In the running are:

  • SMG
  • Storm Rifle
  • AR
    Excluded are:
  • Suppressor - Insanely long TTK
  • Boltshot - projectiles are WAY too slow, not viable in close-in battles - granted, impressive TTK if you can sneak up on your opponents in an open area
  • Needler - Same as Boltshot - to be fair, fastest TTK
    Let’s look at our finalist’s
    SMG - 13/15 Shots to Kill - 0.86 Fastest TTK
  • PROS
    • Second fastest TTK
    • Will win against any other CQB in almost every super close-range circumstance
  • CONS
    • After about 30-40 meters, pretty much useless due to horrible spread; making you rely on your precision weapon
      Storm - 7/10 Shots to Kill - 1.35 Fastest TTK
  • PROS
    • Very Good TTK
    • Shot Spread is very wide to make aiming easier in close range engagements
  • CONS -
    • Due to spread being so wide, makes this weapon near useless past 35ish yards
      And finally
      Assault Rifle - 12/15 Shots to Kill - 1.06 Fastest TTK
  • PROS
    • Very Good TTK (less then a third of a second slower then the SMG)
    • Very accurate at range
    • Being a starter weapon, ammo is plentiful
    • Advantage in farther then normal CQB engagements
  • CONS
    • Not advantaged in an CQB Scenario

So what do you think? Is the AR the ultimate overall CQB weapon?

SMG is all-round fantastic. Feels the most reliable.

I Suck With It For some Reason.In The first few Months Of Halo 5,I was a boss at it though.

Yeah, I stuck with it for a long time too.

Now-a-days I choose the Tactical Magnum over it in most situations.

SMG is definitely my favourite

Storm rifle. It’s got better range than the SMG and unless you are point blank, you won’t be losing to it often. They are treated essentially as power weapons with usually only 1 on a map, so if you get ahold of it nobody will contend against you for some time. It outclasses the AR completely, but no refillable ammo. You won’t be losing until someone cross maps you.

AR is very good, and for the first time in the series a viable weapon. However, if we’re talking strictly CQC, I’d have to say SMG every time, if we’re looking to stay out of melee range. Otherwise, storm rifle.

Personally, I like the SMG for strictly CQC. However, the Shotgun, scattershot, and energy sword varients are easily the best, but I don’t think they were allowed. This leaves SMG.

Only if it has kinetic projectiles, otherwise I’m going with the smg
