> There’s a trade-off between the Assault Rifle and the Storm Rifle - the AR tears through health faster than the SR, while the SR tears through shields faster than the AR. I’m not entirely sure about the Suppressor, but it has the highest rate of fire among all of the loadout automatics.

> The AR is well suited for cleaning up kills in close range, making it a fantastic weapon for FFA gametypes on small maps. The SR is an assist weapon, when you want to lay down some fire to help out your teammates. But, the SR can be quite the killing machine in the right hands!
That is honestly how I put most of the weapons in this game, in the right hands that one thing becomes a monster.
I was of the position that pre-tuning the AR need a needed a nerf to either its range or power not both and a reduction of aim assist
Instead we got both a buff to range and power but aim assist was cut in half
I feel that this is a good compromise as the AR is more powerful but requires the user to e able to aim since the game no longer does it for you
In the right hands its a beast if you can’t aim and go against a BR or CC user that has a good strafe or juke then you will get blasted
It’s a risk reward weapon and I think it fits nicely into the sandbox
> The MA5C ICWS in Halo 3 is chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge.
I have no idea where you got that from, a small caliber like that used for shooting birds, squirrels, and the like being fired by the halo assault rifle? No way.
Im always pleasantly surprised when a player dominates with the AR. I think it is right where it needs to be and if you can dominate with it, then you should. Really old school lol.
I don’t think it’s overpowered. I like it exactly as it is. Someone can fairly easily outgun you if they’re using other weapons, but you can just as easily mow them down if you’re playing with sensibility and understand how to make the assault rifle work.
I use the MA5D moreso than anything else in multiplayer, barring the DMR (I play a lot of SWAT because you can get more games in less time) and that’s pretty much how things work.
I can outshoot someone with a BR85 at close to mid range under most circumstances. The DMR manages to outdo me at mid to long range though. I can effectively put down someone who’s rushing me with a shotgun, and hold my own against other fully automatic weapons.
The thing of it is, it’s a 7.62 round. That’s a round that’s going to punch holes little holes in your torso in the front and leave holes you could put your first through out the back.
It’s supposed to be powerful.
If 343 wants to nerf guns or buff them, they need to start giving them different cartridges. The M6D magnum in Halo: CE isn’t overpowered by any means. It’s a .50 cal handgun with high-explosive, semi-armor-piercing ammunition. It kills stuff dead. Ever seen what an eight-gauge shotgun actually does to someone? It ain’t pretty.
Shrug Maybe I’m the only one who likes to look at this stuff from the technical viewpoints. But people only look at this from a gameplay perspective, and the thing is, there’s also the entire science behind it to consider too.

the AR isn’t a One-Shot though
if you’re caught off-guard by a shotgun, you’re dead
but if you get caught of guard by an AR, you still have a chance to “get out of its range :D” before you die

Still, by that “Logic” we should be able to spawn with saws, and if you have problem “get out of its range :D”
> The AR is certainly more powerful in Halo 4 than in the other Halo games. Thus, weakening the skill gap.
Its actually a lot harder to use than previous versions. Therefore Halo 4’s AR has a larger skill gap than the others. In fact the AR is more difficult to use than any of the precision weapons.
I enjoy the AR and consider Halo4s a different version to use. Yeah, it’s much more difficult to make work then any previous Halo. I can’t use any other gun better considering autos.
Thinking about it I enjoy the AR too much. It’s my favorite gun since Combat Evolved and I missed it’s presence in Halo 2. Enjoying to(continue to) have it back and hope it continues to stay in Halo. Both the Assault Rifle and the BR55 Battle Rifle deserve to make returns in Halo 5.
No, but it certainly is a lot more easier and consistent than the other assault weapons. You still don’t have to aim the much to get a kill with it and you still get more consistent shots landed than a Storm Rifle or the super close suppressor…
> There’s a trade-off between the Assault Rifle and the Storm Rifle - the AR tears through health faster than the SR, while the SR tears through shields faster than the AR.
This is, for some strange reason, not true. The Storm Rifle doesn’t do any additional damage to shields. The Plasma Rifle from previous games DID eat shields, but the Storm Rifle, AR, and Suppressor all lack any sort of damage modifier to certain surfaces.
