Is the AR overpowered?

I don´t believe is OP, but in Matchmaking, people use more often the AR than the storm rifle and suppressor. So I’m wondering if the assault rifle takes some advantage over these weapons.

Manly depends on the user,if you know how to use it at the right time then yes it can be op but every other gun can counter it easily.

Compared to the BR at the same range? Not at all. I find it useful in Regicide if you get behind someone or such. It really depends on how you play though. The storm rifle is pretty useful also, takes out their shields fairly quick.

There’s a trade-off between the Assault Rifle and the Storm Rifle - the AR tears through health faster than the SR, while the SR tears through shields faster than the AR. I’m not entirely sure about the Suppressor, but it has the highest rate of fire among all of the loadout automatics.

The AR is well suited for cleaning up kills in close range, making it a fantastic weapon for FFA gametypes on small maps. The SR is an assist weapon, when you want to lay down some fire to help out your teammates. But, the SR can be quite the killing machine in the right hands!

I find it can be annoying when a group is using it as when someone gets your shields down and his teammate comes up after he dies you get destroyed. On it’s own fine, groups i find it becomes op

for the last time, NO.

it is perfect for its niche.

The AR is a lot more flexible at longer ranges than the SR and Suppressor, but deals less raw damage. It is probably the only of the three viable as a straight up primary, but if you are using an Automatic as a Secondary Weapon, the SR or Suppressor are definitely better choices.

The main reason a lot more people actually use the AR is because it is a UNSC weapon, and UNSC weapons tend to be fan-favourites even if they aren’t necessarily better.

Don’t like getting killed by the AR? Get out of its range

AR is more popular than the other automatics due to its hitscan projectiles, as a result it’s less connection reliant and works more efficiently at a farther range

I’m with Fos and awesomesauce… it’s good for its niche but it is a fan favorite so can be found more easily.

I don’t think its overpowered. I actually believe that the post update Halo 4 AR has a higher skill gap than most of the precision weapon primaries… Kinda of a sad truth, at least in my opinion.

Nothing here is overpowered… If anything, the Suppressor is under powered.

Within its own weapons group, I’d say there are quite a bit of advantages the AR can have. Compared to the precision weapons, not at all.

I’ve been using the AR all the time recently trying to max it, and have to say I’m quite impressed by how good it is. It has a little less raw power than the storm rifle and suppressor but its extream versatility and user friendliness more than make up for it.

And in response to the tread question no its not op.

It’s got the best range and least spread of the automatics.

The storm rifle does the most damage per shot and has medium spread.

The suppressor does the least damage per shot but has the highest ROF to make up for it. Also has the biggest spread.

The AR is the middle ground. You don’t have to put much effort into positioning with it or how to use it tactically.

Both of the other automatics have a higher learning curve that’s probably why you don’t see them as often.

Personally my favorite automatic is the storm rifle. Highest damage per shot not a bad spread and it comes with backpack reloading.

yes.

Everything in groups becomes OP…auto sentries, carbines, un-scoped LRs…everything…heck, even mongeese would be OP if 8 of them were coming at you.

Is the AR Overpowered? Haha, no.

AR is not OP, it’s fine the way it is currently and would rather not see any nerfs.

The automatics have more room for error than the precision based weapons( less auto aim because of the patch , less range and more bloom and/or spread) .
