Even after the update I still am having issues regarding the aiming in this game. I have poured hours upon hours to try to find my fix and still nothing.it has become apparent that the aiming system in Halo 5, regardless of the update, is still in fact broken. Now for some that might not be the case but overall the gaming experience I am having is something I just cant find enjoyable. It might be me perhaps or something else.
In the end I blame 343i’s stupid pro players they hired on for my unenjoyment of Halo 5 and possible future Halo’s.
Yes. Since release my aim feels all over the place. Patches, updates, it all doesn’t matter.

At least its not only me
It’s almost like I have to adapt everyday. I play swat so it’s almost like some days are aim right above the head days or aim at the chin days. Some days it’s take a sec and put the radical right on the forehead. But the sensitivity is what gets me. I like playing around 6 so I can check corners fast but now I just play at 4 and change my style. At 6 it always seems like day to day how fast it moves.
No, the very low aim assist (H2A and CE had the most and it felt TERRIBLE) in H5 improved my aim. Now I don’t miss my shots because someone dashed across the screen, which made my Spartan lock on them and losing the primary prey

I have noticed that as well from time to time, days I can be rocking it and the aiming is solid and smooth and then other days its all over the place and I dont understand why. Change is something that doesnt need fix if it is never broken in the beginning and why 343 decided on changing it to cater to pro players is beyond me. I hate having to adjust and adapt every single day just to force myself to try and like this game.
Not to me. I can pop headshots every Br kill

Well im happy for you but sadly it shouldnt have THAT low of aim assist. As if I have to try and become pro in order to enjoy the game.

Double post?
I felt like something was amiss shortly after the recent update. It felt like it was going all over the place in situations where it wasn’t before. The only change I made was to drop my aim accel. This did seem to help, although I have no idea why it would. Perhaps something did change somewhere (aim assist, server response/latency, sens curve, accel function, etc.). Perhaps it was just a coincidence. I’m still not sure, nor do I have any concrete proof. So I’ll just leave it at that.
I will say I dislike the design of the aiming system in H5. There is a rather substantial gap between the normal, below full input, aim response (aim sensitivity) and the full input aim response (aim acceleration). This leads to aim shifting between very quick while navigating/acquiring targets/making snap aim movements and far less quick when actually aiming/making finer adjustments. It feels inconsistent. I’ve always preferred consistent and smooth aiming mechanics. In other words, I would rather the full input sensitivity curve to be less steep, the sub-full input curve to be more steep, or both.
To compound matters you have to contend with the aim assist decelerating your aim speed when near a target. I understand why such a mechanism exists, given the analog sticks and all that. But again, the gap between the normal speed and the speed when this feature engages is rather large. It can often make adjustments once you’re on target feel more difficult. This is a big reason CQC with a precision requires “sweeping” over your target repeatedly. Again, to clarify, I would rather the magnitude on the deceleration component of the aim assist to be smaller. If this means shots at range take more “skill” then so be it.

lol it happens
After the beta, nothing clicked for me. I feel like I have to fight the reticle to get anything done. It doesn’t glide like it used to, now it just feels stiff and I can’t get my head around how to make it work. I use the elite controller and have been experimenting with different sensitivity curves, but can’t find a solid formula.
Yes I have issues still. I can play well and ‘be good’ but sometimes I feel like I am fighting the aim mechanics, it’s just nowhere near as smooth as past games or any other fps.

It’s not the aim assist, it’s the aiming mechanics themselves. I can’t remember specifically, but it had something to do with having two spheres or aim regions on the stick, which is why it can be difficult to track target on a diagonal axis. I’m sure someone else here can explain it better.
I still have issues with my reticle following someone that ran past my current target, ugh I hate that crap.
Maybe I’m not noticing it, but I havent had any issues with aiming, someone wanna enlighten me on the issue?
I dont notice any trouble aiming. I am ignorant of the finer workings though so I may just not be noticing it. I tend to just blame myself if I miss shots.
