Is that why Locke is sent after Chief?

After listening to the latest episode of Hunt The Truth, we know Chief attacked an embassy and killed several Humans and rescued alien delegates. However, I believe these peaceful people who were meeting with aliens for peace talks were actually working with ONI which would -Yoink- the aliens over in the end. I believe Chief found out about this and stopped such plans from occurring. This makes ONI realize that Chief is becoming a problem to them, especially after the incident at the embassy and believe he needs to be taken out. This is where Locke comes into play I believe, he is told of what has occurred and believes the lies ONI higher ups tell him. Maybe that is why Locke is angry at Chief. What do you think?

I think it is possible, maybe even likely, that Chief’s raid on the embassy is the reason Locke was sent after him. I too also have a feeling that the ambassador, Richard Sekibo, and the people with him, may not truly be what they seemed to be.

I also think that the alien delegates could have possibly been Elites who were allies of the Arbiter, and thus delegates of the Swords of Sanghelios. If so, then I think this could explain why Locke and his team went to see the Arbiter in the Halo 2: Anniversary Prologue and Epilogue cinematics, since Chief was last seen escorting the alien delegates to safety, and left with them on a ship that was waiting for them.

However, there is still a lot we don’t know, as these are just my personal thoughts of what could be the possible answers we don’t know yet.

Very interesting, does seems likely that these aliens were Sangheili.

Might be.

Though I believe Locke being angry in “All Hail”- trailer was because the destruction of the city. Maybe the city was destroyed as a consequence of peace talks going wrong, or maybe Locke found evidence that points to Chief being directly responsible for destroying the city. Then, after witnessing Chiefs actions firsthand added to what he knew beforehand about peace talks incident, he deems that Chief is indeed a traitor, a fallen spartan.

One thing doesn’t add up with theory about peace talks being a trap set by ONI for alien ambassadors. It’s in ONIs interest to keep the alien civil war going, sure. But butchering peace talks between humans and aliens would put humanity in the line of fire. ONI gains nothing with humanity going to a new war with aliens.

Well based on what I’ve read in the books and online ONI is pretty dark. I don’t really blame Jul 'Mdama for doing what he is doing. Just misguided on his approach to it.

i guess Chef knows that with ONI at the helm humanity could end up being as bad as the Prophet led Covenant. I think ONI wants Locke to bring Chef back to them so they can make sure he is on their side or dispose of him. Locke is too much of a poster boy for this game to stay on the bad side long. I see him being like the Arbiter for Halo 2, fighting for the bad guys till he learns the truth. Spartans like Locke and Palmer will likely side with the Chef over time. The marines I’m guessing will back Chef too. The other Spartans will likely make up the ONI faction.

I don’t think Chief has the access to information to really stop ONI’s plans without someone like Cortana. My thought is that with Halsey having gone rouge, and with the few remaining Spartan II’s that remain are a small handful, with Chief and Fred being the most notable (Fred due to his rank). I believe it more probable, that ONI decided they were scared that Halsey still held some level of control over her last few Spartans, so they had someone fake being the Chief to destroy the most publicly renouned Spartan II, so that they could justify the Spartan II’s being removed from the field (and by field, I may mean life.)

ONI could also have been concerned about Benjamin slowly unraveling the truth about the Spartan program, and knew that with the truth soon about to come undone, that instead of risking the remaining Spartan II’s going berserk about their loss of a real life and the evidence that Spartan II’s could effectively bring to destroy ONI’s reputation, it was time to make the Spartan II’s the enemy, and remove them.

It could also be that the augmentation that the Librarian did to the Chief did effect him in some way, and that he really wasn’t purposely trying to destroy the peace negotiations, but those people were just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think that while the Chief is a complete god of destruction, he seems less capable of gathering information to be a thorn in ONI’s side intentionally. It’s more probable, that ONI is framing him for the attacks, or that someone like Halsey, ONI, or someone else is making him do these things.

Edit: As for reasons why ONI would risk starting up war again with the Covenant, with their forces splintered between the SoS and the Storm Faction, the Covenant are divided, a return of war brings less discontent from the outer colonies, and with the advances that the UNSC have made since the fall of Reach… They have an abundance of Spartan IV’s, who are arguably as good, if not better than the Spartan II’s, their weaponry, and ships like the Infinity show just how much faster the human’s are developing than the Covenant. ONI could be trying to start a war back up because it’s what is best for them.

hope this part is explained in the game, then you play as chief breaking in there and breaking stuff and taking down human enemies.
