Is sprint a problem?

I don’t think so. You slow down to normal speeds when shot so noobs can’t run away, and the base player speed is 2.27. That’s .2 faster than halo 3 speeds so we can strafe well.though I do think we need to be able to turn it off.

Sprint breaks remakes. All remakes are about 2X the size of the originals. So unless you are giving up the ability to show in favor of sprinting you have much longer travel times between cover.

Not sure why you are making this when it was just discussed like 10 minutes ago, but as I said before, it’s pointless.

The only things it changes are forcing you to lower your weapon, and forcing to take gaps in your movement speed.

Convince me why either of those are necessary. I don’t care if you like sprint or not, convince me why it’s a necessary change.

A few flaws in your post: Movement speed does not directly equate to a crisp strafe. Your movement inertia plays a much larger role. I will agree that the strafe is better in H4 than H3 and Reach, but with the levels of bullet magnetism in this game, it really needs an H2 strafe.

Back to the sprint point: No, shooting someone doesn’t slow them down to normal speeds. I don’t know where you got this from. Getting shot causes your sprint to, I don’t know, hiccup. If you are pelting them with constant fire, yes it slows them down significantly. Unfortunately, this is only beneficial when someone is rushing TOWARDS you, not away from you. Besides, once someone is around a corner, the sprint has done its job. Slowing them down slightly doesn’t make a difference if they’re close enough to a wall.

Only thing I have to say in relation to sprint is that in H4, the person who gets the 1st shot in a precision weapon battle will almost always win. I do not know why it is this way in H4 as opposed to Reach and Halo 3 (in fact, in Halo 3 I could still win a BR battle if I had already taken 2 shots). Anyways, sprint was added because of the first shot rule, because it is already very difficult to win a battle if the other person gets the first shot.

If they reduce bullet magnetism, and make it harder to aim, this would change. I think people would run away a lot less if they had a chance to win a battle.

I don’t think it really makes that much of a difference because body kill times are still fast. I remember in Halo 3 when people would run away and aim at the ground and you could never kill them for some reason sometimes. This sucked even more in Swat since everyone was a dino

I like posting. But I actually just checked, and movement speed in h4 is 2.27 that’s .2 faster than halo 3s speed. So you move fast all the time, but you can move faster sometimes, it speeds up gameplay for some maps, not all but some, like shutout team throwback, it’s crazy fun.

The reason why the first shot always wins in H4 is because of the bullet magnetism. Instead of making kill times quicker, 343 made it appear that they had been shortened by making bkrandyjoe aim like Snipedown. Kill times are actually quite long (except for the DMR, which is decent), but everyone 5 shots, so they feel quicker. Sprint should not be the counter to this solution, it should be a faster strafe. Unfortunately, sprint is the only thing we got.

Sprint was not added because no one misses in H4, sprint was added because first, Bungie felt they were loosing their audience to CoD, so they needed to compensate. Then, 343 continued the trend.

If a dude is sprinting while getting shot he will move at normal speed but just look like he is sprinting. And if he is trying to get around a corner while getting shot and gets there, you wouldnt have gotten the kill either way.

I give 343i creative points for speed boost. But they loose double points for throwing sprint in as a gimmick.
