Yup, gone with the wind my friend. I hope they bring it back soon as well. Being that I only need mongoose kills left to finish vehicle commendations; here’s hoping that vehicle damage will incur next time they bring it back.
Rocket Race is one of the rotational playlists. It will be back at some point in the future, it just hasn’t been confirmed one.

I agree to disagree. I prefer to play in order to finish commendations. Completion of the game is the point of Gameplay in my opinion. Also I’m 89% of the way done with commendations as it stands and 100% complete with all halo achievements so I think I have a little merit to state whether or not mastering a commendation is difficult.
Mongoose Destroyer master is not easy at all. Players rarely drive the Mongoose; which is a very durable vehicle. The prerequisites alone make this a very difficult commendation to master.
Www.halo.wikia.com states that the way to get credit towards this commendation are:
"You must get a vehicle destroyed medal.
You must stay alive until they die; kills from the grave do not count.
The vehicle must blow up on someone while they die.
Collisions (ramming into a mongoose with another vehicle) do not count.
If it is the last kill in a game it does not count."
The only two weapons that can feasibly blow up the mongoose without killing the driver before the mongoose is destroyed are the Rail gun and Spartan Laser. Both of these weapons can and usually do kill the driver before the mongoose explodes (ie: no credit towards the commendation) and players with the survivor AA equipped usually live through the explosion; which will also not give credit towards this commendation. Spartan Laser is the preferred weapon of choice, but the combined level of luck and skill required to actually blow up the mongoose while staying within the prerequisites make Mastering this commendation an extraordinary feat. Not to mention it takes 165 of them destroyed under the aforementioned prerequisites in order to master it as well.
Also the only game types I’ve seen where players frequently utilize the Mongoose are BTB and CTF. Most CTF maps do not contain the Spartan Laser, so this automatically reduces the chances of obtaining a kill towards this commendation. In BTB there are typically 15 other players going after the Spartan Laser and unless you’re playing an objective game type, few players drive a mongoose around. When players do drive the mongoose, it’s typically used as mode of quicker transportation and the driver will eject quickly; especially if he/she knows someone’s trying to target them.
Since Mongoose Destroyer Master is so difficult to complete under the current game types; I am personally hoping for Rocket Race to return (with damage incurring to the mongoose) so that I can finally complete my vehicle commendations.

First off I wrote the thing on Wiki. Second it is easy to get if you play your cards correctly and are willing to die. A. Ton.
Here is how it works… shoot a mongoose until it is close to blowing up and then drive to the enemy. Get yourself cornered in front of an enemy looking like you don’t know how to drive and chances are pretty good that that they will try to hijack you. When they do you can throw your grenades at it and blow it up… …especially since you cornered yourself and made it hard for the new driver to move.
I did most of the kills for the commendation in about 2 days.
I’ve tried that method before - tons of deaths indeed and absolutely NOBODY ever attempts to hijack me. I’ve thrown away a couple games at it today again just for gigs, and once again zero hijackers… Rather, people typically hang back and attempt to shoot at the mongoose I’m driving instead of me, blowing me to smithereens. If you truly wrote the prerequisites for what Halo Wikia uses for Mongoose Destroyer Master and your method of high-deaths for 165 Mongoose destroy medals is the best/only way… How in gods name can you honestly state that it’s somehow an easy feat to accomplish? The method you described is time consuming and just as unlikely that there will be any takers for hijacking than there would ever be any takers for mongoose drivers to begin with. Perhaps you just got super lucky enough to attain these kills by chance but I still think it’s the most difficult commendation out there to attain. As such I’m still staunch in my own original opinion that this is an asinine commendation to master and am anxiously awaiting for the return of rocket race to actually finish this feat.
You have to sell it. Honking oddly works pretty well. Driving like you are trying to splatter but are bad at it helps sell the gambit. Sure it generally only works once a game against people who are not stupid so if you find this frustrating just pick at it over time. I dedicated all of my gameplay to doing this for a couple days and I got it, maybe that is not the path for you.

I have yet to find an explanation for how Mongoose Master is easy… no one ever drives them. Even when they do I’m far more likely to kill the user before the goose explodes.
Seriously, how is he Mongoose more durable than a warthog?
Rant aside, Rocket Race was such a fun playlist. I feel they should add it to Action Sack, but I feel there are technical restrictions why that won’t happen. Either way, it’s firmly ensconced as a Halo favorite for me. And if they can do Rocket Hog Race… oh my…
@an album cover - I don’t mind grinding to complete commendations… Your suggested method would be fine for me if it would actually work. I remember seeing your original post on the subject months ago; however it simply hasn’t worked out for me. I got one person to hijack me last night after hours if attempting this but I was instantly sniped before I was able to throw out a grenade.

I made an original post last summer but what I do is damage the mongoose by punching it about three to four times, drive it over to the enemy base (try to place it in front of their spawn) and retreat to your base or somewhere along the path to your base where a goose will be driving and wait for them to coming riding along on the already damaged goose and stick it with a sticky grenade and you will get the mongoose destroyed medel and 1 number closer to finishing the commendation. I would recommend that you try this method on ctf where people try to mongoose rush your base. (I had more vids on my file share demonstrating the method but I had taken them down after my orginal post was no longer on the first page).
And I agree with DMR saying that an ablum cover method dosn’t really work (or at least for me anyway) becuase I have tried it using that method several times to no avail only getting two kills after a thousand deaths. That’s when I came up with this method that, for me, worked. (If anyone needs to see the other vids please PM once every week because i’m a busy man and I won’t be on my xbox too often anymore)
Thanks for posting back to my inquiry Demon. I will give that a go- but somehow I feel it won’t be enough to complete this commendation anytime soon. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Just a heads up the most I have gotten in a day was 17ish so it depends on what you consider soon it still took me awhile to complete but best of luck DMR

I ran a game and blew up two mongooses last night… Maybe it was luck but I think it was my charm.
I have played with a couple of people that have tried this unsuccessfully and really the only advice I can give to help is to be a little bit more romantic about it.
When you meet a hot chick you cannot just nakeding yourself and expect yay town to happen. You have to get the mood right and your partner has to be willing to do it with you; sadly not everyone wants what you have.
To tickle the senses of your mate drive around them a bit. Maybe run them over or tickle them with your bumper.
Nobody wants an ugly fuckbuddy so make sure that when you rough up your goose that you keep it -Yoink!- and rugged. Flames are the pimples of this technique, don’t be a flaimer just be close to one.
If you caress the senses of your mate they will eventually mount you and that is the point in time when you can pull out your blue sticky thing and -Yoink- them right in the tail pipe.
Am i able to upload the game type race/rocket race to my xbox?
I didnt grab it while it was out and i can only find unofficial versions in peoples fileshares :s
