Is Reach Dead?

It sure seems to be. The population seems to be diminishing and I don’t think 343i gives a crap about it. Are they going to do anything to fix it until Halo 4 comes out? Like throw in an actual ranked playlist or two (this would 100% get people actively involved in the game)? Or are they planning to continue this “Don’t make it feel like you are in the good Halo days” mentality like they seem to be set and stone in? Idk. I feel like even getting on is a waste of time due to completely unbalanced matches and being placed into games where I am head and shoulders above everyone else.

No need for hatred as I am just voicing my thoughts.

I KNOW RIGHT ^

It is very displeasing to see the game be rundown an forgotten.
Sure it has its flaws an sure it has its positive acts. I just wish it would be brought back up to the glory it had on launch. Now its like why? Just why? People have done traded there copies in an sold them. I Mean I have mad respect for the weekend Jackpots trully amazing an the performance bonus for Team objective. I don’t wanna bite the hand that feeds but really can we have something better for a playlist. Like maybe for instance a Gametype of DLC Maps. Like in specific order to choose from.

I personally wanna see more of solitary, battle creek, tempest, an everything outside of the default maps. It would be rather intriguing.

Reach is the step son that 343 never wanted, 343 married halo, Reach is just the -Yoink- son that got brought along.

Good job at making me start thinking about which one the girl is.
But I’m pretty sure the girl is 343 because they are making Halo 4.

Yes, indeed our dear friend Halo: Reach has perished.

It was the work of the foul agents of disorder, their conspiracies plotting to topple the future of Halo
All that Halo: Reach ever wanted was to love and be loved.
But no that was not to be.
Halo: Reach was silenced by some foolish rookies that thought they had this under control!
They ruined the perfected playlists and mutilated the former crowning jewel of the Halo Franchise.
We all saw it coming, deep down we ALL did.
In fact you all know DEEP DOWN who these Foolish, incompetent Rookies are.

Haha I bet some of you forum members were starting to get your back up. No Reach is in fact very much alive and kicking and shall do so for centuries (not quite)to come!

343i are still taking care of reach, the TU, the Zero Bloom and increased community maps and lots of other much needed stuff (asked for by the community and shown in stats) were all lovingly put in there by 343i, yes i understand your disappointment in the lack of a ranked playlist but I know 343i still cares about reach, hopefully H4 will bring that back with pride and glory!

Sigh.

A lot of the problems with reach are replay ability in the default maps.

There are still people on, just not like H2/3. But the maps that make standard playlist rotation are either completely grey or not much fun.

The level of user interaction with the multiplayer maps is almost non existent compared to previous titles. Don’t get me wrong, I love reach but there is no point in buying dlc maps that never get played and most default maps are just bad.

Reach is still very much alive… If you don’t believe me go look at the active players list on “Living Dead”. You just have to know where to look. If you look in Arena it takes for ever to find people because it isn’t that popular. But if you try BTB or TS or Grifball, you’re sure to find a match quickly

Reach is still alive. It just depends on what time you get on it

I think people are getting tired of the same old maps/games. How many times can you play BTB on Hemorrhage or Slayer on Countdown? Try some of the other games. Rocket CTF on Asylum was hilarious. Timing your shots so that they hit where/when you opponent has to land takes skill. Oh yes, we’re supposed to get the flag aren’t we!?

I agree with this. I also believe that it depends heavily on what time of day you are playing. I have my own reasons why I have shyed away from Reach. For starters, this is my busy season for work. Supporting my family is more important for video games. The other reasons rest squarely on Reach itself.

  1. I never get to play on DLC I paid for.
  2. Horrendous betrayal boot system.
  3. Immature children. (I don’t mean real kids, just people who act like them)
  4. Hate messages when you have a bad game.
  5. Hate messages when you have a good game.
  6. Rediculous credit cap that limits your play time/rank gain ratio. (I don’t work for free)
  7. Borrowed campaign maps.
  8. Over powered weapons. (Weapons that reward spamming and luck over experience and skill)
  9. Ranks that take forever to achieve. (Goes along with credit cap)
  10. Armor abilities. ( These should always be picked up on map, never starting equipment.)
  11. Paper mâché vehicles that handle like a matchbox car on ceramic tile.
  12. Lack of aerial combat.
  13. Objective playlists are worthless as all playlists are now just kill fest for credits.
  14. People who STILL think your rank means skill. (Rank means nothing but time played so why impose a credit cap? Logic fail there.)
  15. Banning players who are bad. (Touchy subject I know, but why bother learning to play a game if it’s going to get you banned? This happened as a direct result of the credit based ranking system. Thank you AFKers. )
  16. Getting rare medals that don’t get rewarded because someone got the first kill. (Has anyone not gotten a First Strike medal yet?)
  17. Griefers and team killers. (I lost a lot of perfections thanks to you. Why?)
  18. Achievements that are tied to DLC that doesn’t come up.
  19. Pre-unlocked skulls. (In past games, finding hidden skulls was a party in itself)
  20. Broken cannon campaign. (While good and added a new level of emotion to the series, leaves you with more questions than answers.)

I think that’s it for now. I can think of a lot more, but I don’t want to create a giant wall that no one will read.

Not dead to me… yet. I’m so close to Zealot armor. Just a few more months of taking advantages of daily challenges…

> Reach is still alive. It just depends on what time you get on it

This.

Reach is still alive, go look and see how many people are online!

Reach is very much alive, especially for a game that’s been out almost two years now. The reason they don’t have 1-50 is because they have stated that it encourages boosting. If 343 didn’t care about Reach, why would they update it every single month?

+100,000 players are online during the weekends, and nearly 70K any given time on the weekdays. I’d say it’s far from dead. Halo 3 is practically on life support.

343i are doing all they can. At least they actually listen, unlike Bungie. We wanted an Armor Lock nerf, they gave us an Armor Lock nerf. We wanted 85% bloom and Zero Bloom, they gave us those. Need I say more?

Oh, and Reach is far from dead. There are still A LOT of people playing. As long as I can find a decent match, I’m more than happy.

As another member said, Halo 3 is on life support.

what a stupid question. no reach is not dead. i still get on and play it almost daily having no issues with matches. you already have arena and mlg for ranked. your not gona get more so quit asking.

about the only problem reach has currently is too many playlists have divided the community.

If by dead you mean top five most played games on one of the best selling home consoles of all time, then yes its dead.
