Well, yes and no. In the “fun” department, 100% yes. But in terms of multiplayer and mechanics, no.
Reach is good for laid back fun, but it’s multiplayer is still disgusting. Halo 5, while you can have fun of course, limits us with arena and warzone. But it plays 10x better than Reach ever did.
So for fun stuff like Firefight and armor, I’ll stick to Reach. But when it comes to playing multiplayer, I’ll stick to Halo 5.
both are different games and people will like different things. Asking which is better is a circular argument, it will never be finished because neither side will ever agree. It also a pointless because it invites haters into the halo reach forums who have nothing better to do but to complain about said game. I didn’t like halo 5, but I’m not making threads saying which is better because I know its a waste of my time and others as well. Lets just enjoy our own games and leave it at that.

This is just about the most sensible post I’ve ever seen.
Reach has more customization, campaign, backstory, and just so amazing to be in the games of the old halo’s. Also to me it has better forge:
One for controls, and two for placing stuff, Three for forge world and fan made maps and machinima’s.
Halo 5’s forge has the worst controls, even when used too, i cant. Also i cant find anything and its not even setup or remade like the classic menu.
Halo 5’s multiplayer is better besides Halo Reach’s swat, invasion, infection co-op campaign, mlg, griffball, anniversary, and more. But Halo 5’s multiplayer is more balanced and i like the gameplay better.
Reach was and still is one of the better halo games. imo its the best of the games because if had everything, great mp, great campaign ( and its also replayable due to challenges) firefight alone while its like GOW’s horde it is still amazing. The customization is amazing, every single one of the armor abilities has a place in the multiplayer and campaign aspect of the game.
and lets not forget it brought in so many of the things people love about halo into the halo games. to name a few DMR, assassinations, assist spree’s and better shooting mechanics.
I must admit to being particularly fond of Reach’s multi player but going back from Halo5 highlights just how much I hate armour lock. It’s beyond frustrating for me personally. The combat also feels heavy now in Reach which is as you’d expect given the faster pace of Halo5 to both overall nimbleness of movement and weapons. As much as I have niggles with Halo 5, I have to confess it to be personally a more preferred snappy experience to Reach which results in a more fun time. It was also the same when I went back to Halo3 from Reach, with Halo3 feeling like it lacked any weight to resulting kills
I was going to make the same point.
Reach is more fun in terms of campaign, story, co-op elements and customization. Halo Reach was NOT better in gameplay, or multiplayer…which, to most, the latter is the most important aspect. To me, the most important aspect is co-op.
I just got a 360 again so I could run reach properly and not without framerate issues, but then I wound up coming down with a cold and can’t even bear looking at this monitor, let alone watching a moving screen all gaming session long. I’m one of those funny people that can’t play when they’re sick, as opposed to those who almost like being sick in order to stay home and game lol I plan to get back to Reach and get me some quality Firefight, once I’m over this.
